✦ i love a good check-your-privilege, people vs the ruling class book that confuses you a little but keeps you on your toes
✦ man, those first few chapters were really confusing—mostly because the main character and her bestie/adversary had very similar names, which was ultimately symbolic. was it apostol's intent to confuse? a possibility. to make an impact? clearly.
✦ this novel is just one horror story among many during the marcos era, a work of fiction but cuts just as deep, knowing the backdrop to it was very real
