Oh. MYGOD. This is, hands down, the absolute BEST romance novel I have ever read in my life. There was none of the cheesy, fluffy stuff, nor the damsel-in-distress, pining-after-his-royal-hotness stuff, ohhhh no. This was straight up incredible. You have a heroine that is incredibly headstrong and can definitely take care of herself who happens to fall in love. You've got my attention right there. Tessa Dare just keeps that aspect of the character going from beginning to end, which I am grateful for, because I absolutely adore her. It's also so brilliantly written that I have bookmarked so many of my favorite parts, but really I just read it from cover to cover every time. This is a fantastic novel, I just love it so much!

I LOVED this. Tessa Dare just somehow knows what I love on a visceral level at this point. I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I did but I'll be honest, it slowly but surely made its way up there as one of my favourites. There was some great character development and a very elegant - and at times funny - story overall.

We do love the steam of a Tessa Dare novel, but overall it just didn’t hit me the same way the last one I read did. Lucy and Jeremy had chemistry, sure, but sometimes I couldn’t tell if he was being a misogynistic prick to her or just being ‘protective’ which pissed me off. I understand times were different and all but nothing is less sexy than a man underestimating a woman he’s known for years. 3.5/5

uggghhh i'm so sick of romance conflicts that could be solved with One (1) conversation instead of 50 pages of angst and awfulness. there were good parts of this, mostly near the beginning, but my overwhelming feeling upon finishing is dissatisfaction and a little bit of disgust :/

For a debut romance, this was actually really stellar, especially the parts between Lucy and Jeremy. Tessa Dare captured their banter and intimacy so perfectly, and I ate up every word. What did drag the story down was a surfeit of pages, and a bunch of secondary plot elements and characters that did not need to be there. I'm excited to read Sophia's story, and loved the friendship between her and Lucy in this book, especially their sort of "sisterhood of the travelling erotic novel" they set up. I read this as the first week with my pals in our Daring Summer, with the "But Do they Bang" book club! 2021
