This book was an eye-opener for me. It was all about determining what your present-day idols are, because not too many of us still bow down to golden cows. It was interesting how Idleman breaks the main idols into about nine categories.

I loved how he said that it isn’t about technically getting rid of your idols, but more about replacing them. I think that is really important. It isn’t just giving up watching Netflix hours on end, but instead reading the Bible or praying. I don’t think we really think in those terms. I know for me if I feel guilty about how much TV I watch I tell myself I’ll read for the next two hours… well that’s just replacing one entertainment idol with another entertainment idol.

Some of the stories he uses in the book are real true stories and there are links to their testimonies and they were super interesting. I know it helps and gives you hope when you realize that you aren’t the only one struggling and that if others can overcome it then so can you!

Like I said this book really opens your eyes and I would definitely recommend it if you are into religious, self-help books! This one is great!
