Gone by Midnight
Reviews

Great one as usual, Ted and Amanda (especially Amanda) are amazing characters and Superfish was a great addition. I'm not super interested in plots about missing kids but this one was still good, simply because Fox is an amazing writer. I'm sad that it's the last one in the series

Another quick read.. Really enjoying these characters..

Thank you to Forge Books for this ARC of 'Gone By Midnight' by Candice Fox. This was my first experience with not only Crimson Lake, but also with Candice Fox. With it being the third book in the series -- something I admittedly didn't realize when I first got it -- I was impressed with how smoothly I was able to settle into the world and the story. There were hints to certain things that I assumed had probably been laid out in the first two books, but they were delivered in such a way in this book that I didn't feel lost at any point. The story overall was enjoyable. While creating an excellent narrative and plot, she also developed characters that felt real, characters that had histories and feelings and personalities about whom the reader cannot help but care. The misdirection that she utilized in this novel is not uncommon for these types of detective novels. Actually, they're rather a staple. However, I think as the narrative was following the initial path, without giving too much away, I was actually disappointed, hoping that there would be more to it, that this wouldn't be all there was. But Fox is a professional and didn't leave me wanting for long. I enjoyed this story and will probably go back and find books one and two at some point.
