This review was originally posted on Addicted To Romance In Good Girl, we are taken to our heroine who is a country singer/songwriter. She is building up in her popularity. Jenny Dawson has a deep love for music, but lately her muse has been gone. So she moved to LA, on the whim of her manager. But when her life is ruined by a false rumor she goes to the countryside in the middle of no where to get away and reconnect with herself and step back from all the craziness from the media. Preston Noah Maxwell is also a man in hiding. He has more than enough money to last him an eternity of lifetimes, thanks to his father, but he hates his wealth at times. Noah didn't have the best upbringing. But when his fiancee has an affair, he ends their engagement. He comes to remodel an old house, and meets up with Jenny Dawson. At first Jenny and Noah hate his each other. They fight like cats and dogs. They are secrets between them, and are complete opposites in many ways. But oh man the chemistry is fiery hot!! These two were so entertaining. Their interactions were fun and so many laugh out loud moments that Layne gives us a fun read!!! And the ending was just perfect...better than I imagined. Even though there were many fun moments to this story, at times I felt the flow was a bit off. Occasionally my attention was easy to veer away from the story. I liked the characters here but didn't necessarily love them. I had issues with both Jenny and Noah. Not huge enough issues to take away my enjoyment, but it still made a bit of difference in some ways. Overall though a enjoyable romance that will give you some good times. And I enjoyed Good Girl enough to want to pick this author up more for sure!! [foogallery id="21585"]

Her stories are brilliant with relate-able characters that you just want to adopt and love them forever. This was totally the case with Good Girl, which didn't disappoint one bit. I was on the cruise, waiting for Bingo Night to be over so in the mean time, I was reading Good Girl. I thought it would be as fun as Blurred Lines, and it was but it had so many feels! Do you know how hard it is to contain your feelings in a place that's full?! I was trying so hard not to laugh and then... I was trying not to cry! Noah broke my heart! He stomped on it! *throws papers in the air* I'm done..... Okay, I can't be done because I have to finish this review. But man, do I agree with Jenny? This man can make you turned on and irritable in a matter of five seconds. I don't know what I want from this guy, but it's impressive the way he can take me from horny to irritable and back again in about five seconds. I was warned that Noah was mean and that's why many people weren't liking him, but I actually did like his brooding persona, despite all the hurt Jenny and I went through. Yes, I suffered with Jenny through everything. The thing is Noah is very conflicted and he so wants to keep Jenny away, to not get involved with her at all, but he just wants more from her and with her. I don't think he realizes he's saying mean things until he sees the hurt in Jenny's eyes, and let me tell you, he always regrets what he says and makes it up to her. I think that's another reason why I liked him. He wasn't trying to hurt her and when he would, he would become so vulnerable and try to make her happy again. I've never met someone so skilled at subtly stalking a weaker creature and watching for flaws, just waiting to exploit them. Jenny was so sweet. You'd think she would be all high-class, but she definitely wasn't. She was very down-to-earth and you could tell she loved her music and she loved to write. I was shipping Noah and Jenny so hard! When all your feelings are involved with a book couple, you know you ship them and love them so much! I really loved that the story was set a little in the outskirts of town so the characters had their privacy, which was needed for Jenny. I loved that Noah, despite coming from money and prestige, he was unbelievably humble, as well as Jenny. They fit together on every aspect and their chemistry was off the chain! Also, the friendships in this story were so good and funny, too. Finn and Vaughn are Noah's friends and they are total polar opposites and always disagreeing, but they were a great and funny addition. Overall, Good Girl was a very romantic, sexy and thrilling story! I received an eARC from the publisher for free in exchange for an honest review. This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews.

Sooo good! One of the best grumps I have ever had the pleasure of reading about and she was a pretty fun character as well. I just really enjoyed their dynamic. Can't recommend enough! (Fare warning it's spicy)

I requested it from NetGalley before even realizing what it was about, I just knew Lauren Layne wrote it and I had to read it. Once I started it, I was even more excited about it. Country music star in the middle of a scandal because of a misconstrued photo and a couple attention-seeking jerks? Yes, please. Give it to me! Good Girl truly was of the unputdownable variety. I literally carried my iPad to the kitchen with me so I could fix lunch and read at the same time. So, yeah. I loved Jenny. No question. I sympathized with her over what she was going through and appreciated how she opted to deal with it. I mean, sure, she ran away but I thought it was the right choice. It gave her time to focus on her and her music and I think that was the best thing she could've done in the situation she was in. Sometimes the best way to avoid the tabloids is just to totally stay out of their way, right? Especially when it seemed like everyone desperate for another few minutes of fame was bent on using her to get it. Of course, I'm also going to think she did the right thing because it put her directly in Noah's path. If I'm honest, I DIDN'T love Noah at times. I mean, hell, he had his swoony and sweet moments, but he also behaved like an utter ass every now and then. (So, normal guy, right?) I'm all for banter and whatnot – in the name of chemistry, of course – but he was downright cruel at times. That I struggle with. I mean, he had his reasons – mainly trying to keep things between them simple – but I hated when he was hurtful to Jenny. Then he'd turn around and do something super sweet or say something sexy AF and I was back to swooning over him. In some situations I'd write off a character like Noah as a douchebag, but not here. At the end of the day (er, book?) I found myself really liking him once I let go of the more frustrating part of his character. Good Girl was a great read. It had humor, heart and hot times. The situations the characters were in seemed realistic (for them) and even with my conflicting feelings about Noah at times, I still wanted to see them work things out when it was all said and done. I liked how they helped each other grow and tackle their problems. The grand gesture made me swoon and there were definitely some serious feels when it came to one of Jenny's songs. All in all? I loved this book. So basically I've come to the conclusion that Lauren Layne is just amazing and I'm destined to fall head over heels with all of her characters and love everything she writes. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. FAVORITE QUOTES You know that feeling you get sometimes? Well, ok, rarely. That feeling when you meet a stranger's eyes and something inexplicable and intense sizzles between you That. That's what happened between me and Noah Maxwell, at least on my end. "You kiss different from the boys I know." "Well, maybe that's your problem. You've been kissing boys." For a girl who has a reputation from getting plenty of horizontal action, she tasted a hell of a lot like innocence. And sweetness. And want.

Originally posted at Booklovers For Life Lauren Layne does it again! She delivers another fun-filled, hilarious, and sweet contemporary romance with Good Girl, a new adult standalone in the Love Unexpectedly series. I seem to never be disappointed with LL’s works, which makes her an auto-buy author for me whenever I’m in the mood for something light-hearted that will make me smile. So basically, I really, really enjoyed Good Girl – it’s the perfect opposites-attract/enemies-to-lovers romance! If you love broody heroes and sassy heroines, this book is definitely for you. Jenny Dawson is a famous country singer who’s known for her ‘America’s sweetheart’ persona, but when false accusations appear in the media claiming that Jenny is involved in a cheating scandal, her life becomes a mess. She needs to get out of town ASAP, and the perfect place happens to be in the middle of nowhere, Louisiana. Her trip to the quiet, serene countryside would be perfect… if it weren’t the annoying, broody, sexy caretaker, Noah. You know that feeling you get sometimes? Well, okay, rarely. That feeling when you meet a stranger’s eyes and something inexplicable and intense sizzles between you? That. That’s what happened between me and Noah Maxwell, at least on my end. And then . . . And then he had to go and open his mouth. It would figure that the first guy I’m attracted to in a good long time turns out to be a total jerk. It would also figure that I’m stuck sort of living with him for the next few months. Noah… isn’t the caretaker of the place Jenny’s staying at, but she doesn’t need to know that he’s actually the owner. Noah himself wanted a quiet place to turn to while escaping from his preppy life as Preston Noah Maxwell Walcott, but everything’s disrupted when a gorgeous country singer and her annoying Pomeranian arrive at the estate. To say that Noah and Jenny don’t get along is an understatement – they get off on the wrong foot from the first second they meet, and it all goes downhill from there. But the delicious tension between builds as they trade insults and banter, and who can resist when the two are stuck together on an estate with no one around for miles? This girl is like crack to me. Sweet, addicting, and fucking dangerous. I read some earlier reviews and knew going into Good Girl that Noah wouldn’t exactly be the greatest hero ever. He’s a jerk, in fact. He does asshole things, says cruel words – but never did I think that the things he did go too far or should never be forgiven. Jenny, thankfully, isn’t a doormat, but neither is she petty, which I admired. Somehow, LL wrote these two characters in a way that just worked for me. The gradual build-up of their feelings and the romance felt genuine and I really connected with it. And by the end, any lingering anger or frustration I had towards Noah were gone, and I was giddy and smiling at how things wrapped up. This book might not be for everyone, but I really enjoyed LL’s take on an enemies-to-lovers theme. Thanks to the publisher for generously providing me an ARC to review.
