4 of 5 stars ----- Chapters 020-029 Favorite Case: Hatamoto Family Case Having a lot of false evidences lead you conveniently to a suspect from the very start, chances are that suspect isn't the real culprit. And that was what happened in this case. It was actually a smooth move to have Ichiro as the culprit. I know that a lot of times, the ones who seem unlikely to do the crime ended up being the culprit. Yes, he has his own motive, but it appeared not strong enough to kill his grandfather. And since money was a real deal in the family, you would think that money was linked to the real motive. But just like what Conan had said, he indeed dug his own grave with his last move. He thought that by stabbing himself, it would make him less suspicious and more a victim, but it was what made him more rooted as the culprit. But if it weren't because of Conan's deductions, I can never link all the three incidents with each other to know who did it. In The Monthly Presents Case, I remember how suspicious Ran was about Conan's identity. It was just a really small case. I think it was made like that just to remind us that Conan was actually Shinichi and we should never forget about it. Sometimes that reminder would surfaced whenever the Black Organization was mentioned but a lot of times it was not. I mean, all the time it was about Conan solving the cases and as a great amount of time passed by, we were getting too familiar with the image of the child doing all the work that we seemed to forgot that he was actually in the middle of his own case as well. That he was actually a teenager stuck in a child's body. It was just great to see that there's at least one person that was able to see even just a small shadow of the truth about Conan's identity.

3.5 of 5 stars ----- Chapters 020-029 Favorite Case: Museum Owner Murder Case **Warning: I loved noticing some differences between the anime and manga. I know changes were inevitable with anime adaptations, but I just want to mention it. Those mentions would probably appear in most, if not all, of my Detective Conan reviews** Museum Owner Murder Case was one of the few cases where Kogoro wasn't in his usual 'Sleeping Kogoro' state when solving the case, though it was still Conan who's leading him to the truth by dropping innocent clues. Among the three cases, this is what I liked the most since it was one of the 'framing other suspect' case where Conan should prove that the number one current suspect was not really the culprit. It was obvious how inconvenient it was to solve crimes in his child state but I always find it so cute to see how he sometimes used that opportunity in his advantage to solve the cases. The Bullet-Train Bombing case involved the Black Organization. Again, Conan used the advantage of being a child to find who's holding the briefcase with a bomb inside. But that also held him back from saving the whole train from exploding since no one believed a child. But because of his quick-thinking, he was still able to dispose the bomb before it exploded. **The case was consisted of a few changes compared to the anime episode. In the anime, Gin and Vodka weren't really the men in black in the episode. They were just some random men in black clothes that Conan thought were with the Black Organization. As I also remember, Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko were also in the anime episode, but in manga, they didn't appear. But the case itself, it was the same.** The Code Sheet Case with the Detective Boys was kind of a child-friendly case that fits perfectly for them. Though it still involved dangerous thieves, it was not as 'bloody' as the other cases. Here, Conan used a lot of his brain cells just to crack the secret code leading to the 'treasure'. Even he took a few trial and error to find it. And I loved his reaction when he finally solved it. That laugh uggh! **There was also a scene where I remember that wasn't in the anime episode of this but I have seen in one of the Detective Conan movie. That was the cola scene between Ran and Shinichi. I remember it because I just finished watching the Captured in Her Eyes movie where the scene appeared, but in the different location and situation.**

4 of 5 stars ----- Chapters 010-019 Favorite Case: Mysterious Shadow Case If I were to choose my most favorite among the three cases in this volume, it has to be the Mysterious Shadow Case. Having to crack the criminal's perfect alibi will always be one of the most fun cases in Detective Conan. As as reader, you knew who the criminal was from the beginning and the only problem was to break his perfect alibi. Because not all of us are as keen as Conan, we tend to overlooked the most obvious clue. In the anime episode of this case, it was kind of like a dead end to think that the criminal has an irrefutable alibi. But that alibi was not exactly the problem. It was actually the only truth in the case. The problem was about the trick used by the criminal to make everyone believe the false time of death was the actual time of death. It was good! Though among the cases in this volume, I also liked the 1 Billion Robbery Case because it involved the Black Organization and for me, cases involving the Black Organization in the anime were always be the intense one. I was just kind of confused because in the anime, I remember having two cases with the same 1 Billion Yen Robbery Case. Both episodes have the same female culprit named Miyano Akemi having to used the fake name Hirota Masami. Other than having a robbery case and exactly the same character name, it was a totally different case. But only one of the two episodes included the Black Organization. As I now read the case in the manga, the case was like the combination of the two episodes. I don't know if it just got overlooked in the anime or if it was intentional, though. In this volume was also the first appearance of the cute little kids Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko. Overall, this was fun!
