Taking a star and half away because I did not feel a deep connection between Sam and Carter. I'm disappointed because the cover is so pretty and I expected it to be a 6☆ read. 😭 

Anyway, the plot of the story centers majorly on Maya and her wedding; Carter's cousin. Carter and Sam both go on a mission to make Maya stop her own wedding with a man who doesn't deserve her. Not going to lie, I liked this detail in the story but it didn't do much as to the actual plot with Carter and Sam.

Another thing I'm not a fan of is how freaking long Carter took to admit his feelings for Sam. Like I'm all for denailing feelings towards the MC before the HEA but it wasn't it in this book. It didn't get me going; In fact, it made me think that Carter's attraction to Sam was simply non-existent. Half of the book felt like a one-sided love to me. And I have to admit, Carter sometimes made me cringe a lil. 

Sam. Sam, Sam, Sam. Girl loved him since high-school. How many years is that..? A lot. I don't know about you all, but I would've ran from the man instead of staying and suffering a bang of pain whenever he flirted with some random waitress. Samantha needed some of her dignity back. Don't know, just my point of view.. maybe it's me who's never been in love but whatever. 

  “You’re so in love with her that to be broken would be a privilege. You’d thank God for every crack she put in your heart, because at least those cracks came from her.”  
Okay, that is my favorite (and probably the only) quote in this book. I'm a sucker for books with a ton of meaningful quotes. 

Overall, good. This is my first book by Gracie Ruth Mitchell and I can't wait to start the second Love Mishaps book (I've heard better things about it💀) and to see how Maya's story turns out.

           me parece que estoy a nada de convertirme en una hater sin remedio...

A ver, este libro realmente prometía: friends to lovers, una posible tensión sexual, una romcom, y muchos momentos delirantes o enternecedores.

¿Qué pasó? 

Para comenzar, no me gustan los friends to lovers, me dan dolor de cabeza porque es más el tiempo que pasan lamentándose de que sus sentimientos no sean correspondidos, o que vean al otro coqueteando con alguien más, o que pasen todo el libro negando sus sentimientos e insisten que son solo amigos; que aquellas escenas super soft y lindas donde se permiten sentir sus sentimiento y andan felices... y este libro es exactamente eso, y por eso no me gustó.

Ahora, de romcom... si tiene algo, pero más que generarme risa, me daba una mezcla entre cringe y lastima, y esa es una pésima combinación.

Por un lado tenemos a Sam, lamentándose por estar el friendzone, y por el otro a Carter que tiene miedo a los compromisos o a los sentimientos muy intensos porque vio como su padre se desvanecía tras la muerte de su madre, y él no deseaba pasar NUNCA por eso.
 
Horrible todo, me importó tres mandarinas lo que pasaba respectivamente en la vida de cada uno de ellos, o si estaban juntos o no.

De paso... ¿El drama de Maya? O sea, una chica de ventiun años embarazada con planes de casarse con el ser más desagradable del mundo, pero la chica por más que se queje de ese hombre y sepa que la está engañando -y robando plata para que este se vaya a divertir con las demás mujeres-, insiste en darle una oportunidad a esa relación y seguir con los planes de la boda por el bebé... sinceramente, odié esa trama, odié ese personaje, odié el personaje de chet/chad/whatever, y odié todo de este fkn libro.

Solo voy a mencionar dos escenas que me generaron mínimamente algo:

-Acá los personajes secundarios no fueron memorables, pero me dio mucha risa que Wini atrapara a Boris jugando strip poker con otra mujer, y cómo bromeaban sobre cómo le haría un hombre de su edad para quitarse la ropa y que esa era una vista que nadie quería imaginarse.

-Sam cortándole la nota a Carter sobre el asunto de ignorar sus sentimientos y seguir adelante como si nada, diciéndole que si llegan a ser vecinos en aquella fantasía de él, ella espera que su futuro esposo también pueda pasar el rato con ellos, así como también los futuros hijos que tenga, y que si él le parecerá todo bien eso, incluso hasta hacerle de niñera cuando ella y su esposo quieran salir en una cita nocturna. 

-Carter apareciendo en la casa de Maya luego de que esta lo llamara diciendo que Sam estaba planeando verse con alguien, y este llega todo desesperado diciendo que los hijos de Sam tendrán sus ojos y procede a besarla. Y luego le dice que otra persona cuidará de sus hijos para que ellos salgan a citas nocturnas etc etc etc. Qué romántico I guess.

En fin, lo peor de todo es que me fumé todo este libro para que al final no me dieran NI UNA SOLA ESCENA DE SMUT !!! y si, así de superficial y básica soy, pero en verdad qué dolor de cabeza esta lectura para que ni pudieran recompensarme como algo tan simple. 

Igual capaz el libro en sí no es tan malo si lo veo en retrospectiva y todo eso, pero me temo que me agarró en un mal mood jeje
