Also, if you like when humans are not completely helpless (finally), you will be please with this read. I know I was!

I really liked the backstory in the beginning to set the stage of the plot. I appreciate the fresh and original take on vampires' origins. I think that it fits into this story well, and I always like a little Ancient Egypt placed in there. The combination of ancient and modern carriers through the entire plot, as the issues stem and spread across the world and imprint themselves into all eras. 

The characters were well developed and each had their purpose. I realize that there are many cases suitable for an "extra," but everyone in this book seems to have plans and schemes of their own. I'm not normally an anti-hero fan, but General Chloe was very interesting to me. She's ruthless, cunning, and intuitive. 

I am also eager to see what Anton's future holds in  A Traitor's War. The title itself is suggestive, and I want to know what happens next! 

Vulgarity: Minimal.
Violence: Yes, but it was not as gory as I had expected.
Sexual content: Seldomly discussed.
