The police won't open the case because there were too many witnesses for it to be anything other than suicide. But, the police can't see the ghost of the suicide victim, but Alex can. The case should be simple, raise the shade and the shade will clear things up. Nothing is ever simple for Alex, so of course the shade can't remember. More apparent suicides pop up, their shades with no memories, which means more business for Alex. These books are so good! I can't wait to read more.
