I wasn't really in the mood for yet another book with human trafficking but by the time I realised I was too far in to stop..

I didn't really like the many POVs and it being told in third person only made it harder for me to get a feeling for the characters, especially when there's so many of them.

I got whiplash from the change of scenery. One second the mcs are all over each other and the next you're reading about his little sister laying on the floor while 

 get's raped and murdered. My jaw hit the floor by how "casually" she died in just two sentences. I had to go back and read again because I thought I missed something.

Over all, I guess I was just tired of the topic because it's depressing as hell and the constant hot and cold and change of POVs didn't help..

Somehow I got attached to Drake/Draco and Nora even tho they only had like two scenes together and I was absolutely shocked when I thought they just killed him off in 2 sentences like Sasha. I'm glad he's alive but it's frustrating he's still in a coma after half a year. It's realistic and it makes sense but I don't care. In reality, he would probably never wake up again and I'm reading a book for a reason so if he doesn't wake up in the next book I'll riot.

I'm a little bit annoyed that Andy got like four pages to die even tho I couldn't care less about him. Just because he didn't want to force woman into it and helped them in some minimalistic way doesn't redeem him imo. First of all, helping is not something redeeming in this case because it's what I expect from EVERYBODY in this situation. Second of all, he could have gone to the cops. I don't care if he was blackmailed and would've been the scapegoat. He should risk getting into jail if it means getting these children and women out. Coward.

Another thing that bugged me about him was his whole "I'm dying but I love you, Juliet" speech. You still cheated and harrassed her?! You still belittled her and every other woman?! You still showed no respect for women in general by calling her a whore?! You still let your father control you and your life like the embarrassing little shit you were?!

I'm sorry but I don't care if he did something deemed as good in his life and was a good friend a long time ago. I couldn't have cared less for him or his stupid chapters. They didn't give me insight. If only I hated him more because he made me sit through his POV.

Greer Rivers knocked this romantic thriller out of the park. Escaping Conviction was an exciting, nerve wrecking read full of old love/hurt, human trafficking, and legal issues. The perspective is his/hers/other as it touches on viewpoints of multiple character, not just the leading lady and male counterpart. 

This is part of a series but I’ve been told the individual books will be standalone with similar plots. The content is mature (18+) as it deals with human trafficking, some military memories, and a small handful of sex scenes. 

The book is wonderfully written with little to no grammar/spelling issues. The plot does not disappoint and the storyline is a HEA. The love story is full of old hurts, second chances and frustrating interruptions from an entitled stalker of an ex-friend/lover. And my favorite character is the leading lady’s assistant/best friend because, well, just read about it. You’ll see for yourself. ;)

Overall, this book was a refreshing romance, no cheese, and full of the alpha, yet realistic, military protective love for his woman and family.
