queer conversion camp horror doing fascinating things around trauma, abuse, gender, class, intersections of homo/transphobia & fatphobia & racism, and body horror. the characters feel so alive and viscerally real, which keeps the fantastical elements relentlessly grounded. the relationships are complex and messy in ways that make them compelling and touching in equal measure. this book is gory and brilliant and an incredibly engaging reading experience. mind the content warnings. 

like explicitly queer it. if the clown was a freaky conversion camp thing.

Fell in love with the characters and their plight. The monster in this book is also amazingly grotesque and expertly crafted.
