Guy de Maupassant

Artine Artinian

Writer Guy de Maupassants ironic tale of a beautiful but poor womans longing for a more glamorous life leads to a borrowed necklaceand a most unfortunate misunderstanding.

The Necklace

Perfect definition of what a short story should be: A great character sketch of the protagonist, a major flaw, redemption and a very dramatic and iconic twist. The story is basically about Mathilde Loisel, a middle class woman with a very materialistic mindset and pursue for life who is married with a very humble working class husband. The story takes shape when she borrows a diamond necklace from her rich friend for a party she is going to attend. I have nothing to complain about with this book, great plot great execution and both halves were great.

absolutely recommended!

So simple yet so mesmerizing. A lie, a deception or simply being scared can change your life over the smallest things. Such an interesting short story.
