I really really enjoyed this book! 4/5 stars.

The premise of the story is that a mega corporation has taken over and taken advantage of a mostly destroyed futuristic earth and now produces a synthetic formula that controls the nutrition and reproduction of humans. Human beings are not allowed to eat food, and the word "hungry" is like a swear word.

The main character, Thalia, starts to feel hunger pangs and her stomach starts growling, and this is something that the formula is supposed to control, and soon, she finds herself becoming more and more interested in food. 

She runs into a boy, completely by chance, and he introduces her to the rebellion. Many exciting things starts happening after that, including the inciting of a protest, rebellion, and the ongoing aftermath.

I thought this idea was a brilliant one, and although the story flow seems a little hurried in places, I quite enjoyed the characters and the story line. Thalia's family is semi-large, but the characters are each fleshed out enough that the family dynamic is very understandable. 

I wish that we could have gotten to know more about Basil and his brother, because I feel that for a main character, Basil didn't get a lot of the lime-light, development wise, but I still really enjoyed him as a character.

I love that this book is not set up in chapters, but in sections that focus on where Thalia and Basil are at the moment. It makes the story seem to be more continuous when there are not obvious chapter breaks.

The book ended in a really lovely place; It almost made me think of a musical piece, getting more and more dynamic and climactic as it got further along, and then at the end, it climaxed and then slowly came to an end in a beautiful epilogue that really makes me anticipate another book in this story, and more books by this author!

I cannot wait to see what comes next!

I enjoyed this, though some parts could be a bit dull and some of the characters didn't have a lot of depth.
