Really love the thriller story line! I honestly had no idea where it would go and it kept me reading which is a good thing because Enzo Vitale is so beyond infuriating! And he brought of the worst in Sawyer so I couldn't take her most of the time either. But all in all a great thriller and I'm looking forward to reading my next H.D. Carlton.

This book really bothered me. The writing is on point, I don't mind strange kinks (to each their own), but rape being overlooked and the male character constantly humiliating the female character was to much for me.

If I could, I would have put half of this book into quotes. I haven't highlighted this much in a book in a long. Freaking. Time. And it hit right in the feels. 🥲

 Yes, I did read the description, but the book was so unpredictable I never knew what would happen next.

  It's the first book I'm reading by H.D. Carlton
 and I honestly don't know why it's taken me so long to pick up a book by her. But the good reviews for Does It Hurt? kept smacking me in the face every time I opened bookstagram, so I just gave in. 😂😂 Her writing was simply put amazing, as you can imagine by me wanting to highlight the whole thing.

   I found Enzo to be a very interesting character.
 He was a beautiful contradiction of angry violence and sweet romance. Swimming with sharks? Now I want to try it -- with some thick metal bars between me and them! 🦈

  My heart broke for Sawyer!
 I enjoyed her personality. She was a baddass. And really funny. She gave me some Anna Steele vibes with her random thoughts, but... in a good way?

would like to start by saying i don't usually read dark romance, i mostly do when i need something quick or when in a slump and while i already have my issues with them, most of the ones ive read are at the very least fun to read. they're mostly fun toxic or just toxic toxic but this was much worse it was boring toxic.

my first ick isn't really an issue but at the 8% mark while they're fucking AT THE 8% MARK I REPEAT he admits that he doesn't kiss people while having sex because it's intimate and this gave me wattpad- no! this gave me episode flashbacks
also he's described as having a shaved head, and my first thought at that was ronan lynch so this is now my official apology to ronan, you didn't deserve this im so sorry

see, this book is under the dark romance category, but really it only lives up to half this title; it was dark alright and thank god there was a tw list in the beginning of the book but i fail to see where the romance is. the whole book he spends degrading her and calling her names, WATERBOARDING HER, telling her that nothing matters about her except her pussy and im supposed to root for that relationship?????? then he suddenly switches up and starts caring out of fucking nowhere and even then he's still degrading to her girlie deserves much better than him

at about the halfway i started getting terrible bored and uninterested i was so ready to be over it but was only holding on to the thrillery subplot which i found really interesting. i wholeheartedly believe that some romance authors should be writing thriller books and this is one of those cases. it was the only thing i was invested in, but unfortunately when that subplot started unraveling i had long lost interest in the book and simply wanted to end already. romance books usually take me one or two seatings to finish, this book took me three days and the only reading i did finish is because i started skimming during the end. it felt like i was in a prison of my own making

when i go into a dark romance i expect the misogynist men that's kind of a given, but he really raises the bar there was no excuse for any of the shit he's done and while contrary to the others he doesn't need jail time i would get him very far away from her a restraining order is needed 

would recommend this to my worst enemy but other than that no one deserves to go through that
