I had chosen to read this book for a couple of reasons....one the cover of the book drew me in and two it is elves. The first couple of chapters was a bit hard to get through but after I got past them the book picked up the story very well and it kept my attention. Every time that I had to put it down made me want to pick it right back up.

The characters were very well developed, which made it easier to remember where each character came in play in the story. I must say that it has been a while since this type of story line has kept my attention and making me want more after finishing the book.

My favorite character through out the book was Tellie. She was greatly developed and all she wants is a family and to help.

Moonscript, the first installment in the Kings of Aselvia series, is a beautiful tale of hope, family, friendship, and adventure.

My favorite part of this story was by far the characters. We have Tellie, and orphan girl who just wants to be loved. We also have her best friend Kelm, who refuses to leave her side. There's Tryss, a protective healer, and Prince Errance, who was assumed dead 70 years before this story begins. In this world of elves, humans, and others, these characters must team up to fight the Darkness that threatens their lives. 

For an epic fantasy, I really enjoyed the pacing and the writing style. There was a lot of action (big trigger warning for torture) and character development, but it wasn't too confusing or hard to get immersed in this world after the first 15%. I loved the world-building and the relationships between the characters, which had me laughing out loud and tearing up throughout the novel. I've never really read the found family trope before, but I thought it was done beautifully in this story. 

Amazing characters, great plot, detailed world-building, and immersive writing style ... so why wasn't it a five star read? For me, it's because this story gets very religious. I had no idea that this was a super Christian story going into it, and I personally didn't agree with or appreciate the message that it sent towards the end of the book. The plot becoming driven by religion (and in a way that can be seen as insensitive and ignorant) was a deal breaker for me. However, if you're religious or you don't mind religion playing such a large role in a story, I think you would love Moonscript.

At first, I was a bit unsure about this book. I was slightly confused with all the characters and how they connected at first, but I did get hooked quickly! There's a lot of world building and character introductions at first, but that became helpful and necessary for understanding everything. It really comes to life as you read, and you can really see the world. It was a pretty epic feeling tale, with lots of plot and good characters. There isn't really much romance, but that's okay! I liked that there was a focus on friendships. The characters are so well written and feel so realistic. I love that in a book. 

There's a lot of main characters, but it doesn't feel clunky or too much. They're all well defined and developed. I loved all of them! I connected to them all emotionally, and felt with them! I think this was an awesome, epic tale with a fantastic world build! It wraps up nicely, but there's still so much room for more, and I'm excited about future books! I don't like being left on huge cliffhangers, and that won't happen to you in this one! 

If you're into that classic epic fantasy style, characters you can really connect to, and a healthy dose of adventure, you should definitely check Moonscript out!!
