While initially intriguing, I ended up finishing the book disappointed. I read this book before presenting it as a potential candidate for my students to choose from for their WWII novels. I will not end up presenting it. The portions of the narrative, especially early on, from Hillary's point of view felt awkward and disjointed. Channa's narrative read much easier, however, lent no new light and fell into a predictable trope. Also, Nolan's explanation for how Hillary ended up seeing life through Channa's eyes stretched the suspension of disbelief too far and the thin thread snapped.

I do not recommend this book.

As Hilary, a Neo-Nazi initiate, lies in a coma, she is transported back to Poland at the onset of World War II into the life of a Jewish teenager.
