Happily Ever After (and Everything in Between)

3.5 Just a cute slice-of-life collection of comics. It was funny and relatable (even if I myself am not in a relationship atm). It's a very enjoyable short book.

AAAAAH MAKES ME WANNA HAVE SOULMATE LIKE JASON

I needed a book to run a feather on my weary brain to slow it down, to breathe some life into it, and to let it heal. The decision to abandon everything on my Currently-Reading list to read Debbie Tung’s ‘Happily Ever After and Everything in Between’ was restorative. The book is everything her previous works were: warm, cute, funny, and sweet but not saccharine. Comics and graphic novels usually overwhelm me; with too many panels and images, my focus gets pulled from all directions only to stay with nothing, leaving me exhausted. But some comics don’t. Like Debbie Tung’s, Patrick McDonnell’s, Sarah Andersen’s, Grant Snider’s, and Zen Pencil’s. They come with generosity and respect for our battles, personal and universal. I often fail to notice my own hypocrisy — when friends struggle with books or when life situations dictate a detour in reading choices, I tell them that it’s okay to abandon books, it’s okay to choose what is helpful, it’s okay to return to favourites, and it’s better to drop what doesn’t work instead of feeling stuck in a reading slump. In the last two weeks, I refused to listen to my own advice that seemed easy to dish out and hard to practise. Now that I am here, like a whale breaching, I feel light.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Debbie Tung's comics always make me a ball of mush. It's partly why I keep coming back to them - to let them melt me into this emoticon with starry eyes and moist eyes both at once. Also, totally not an overreaction: Debbie: I can finally connect with nature. H: The Wi-Fi is down Debbie: Noooooooo, how will we survive????

Happily Ever After & Everything in Between is a great graphic novel about the goods and bads of relationships. A young couple got married, and six years after is when this book takes place. In public, they are super cute and relaxed, and at home they are fun weirdos together. We see the fun times they have, the goofy comments they say, and the slice of life of a friendly married couple. There's bits and bites of random scenarios, making it feel like a little comic anthology at times. All of it comes off as very relatable. Overall, this book is sweet and fun! The illustrations are absolutely, insanely, incredibly great and I really enjoyed diving into this book. Picking up more graphic novels was my goal this year, and this was just the little, comedic gem I needed. I don't think every reader will like this book, but I enjoyed it! It's a simple, contemporary read that will brighten your day. Four out of five stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

Hey friends , This comic book took less than half an hour reading time and by the end i had smiled, laughed and feel so fulfilled. It’s so realistic and has a sense of nostalgia for something i have yet to experience. The dialogue and the drawings of the characters and the scenes is done so well I recommend this to anyone and everyone ❤️❤️❤️ Rating is a 5 special glowing stars 💫💫💫💫💫

This is seriously so cute and accurate. I loved this so much. I feel like it could have been written about my own life! The artwork is sweet and relatable. This would make a great anniversary gift to your partner.

I love Debbie's comics, they are very warm and fuzzy. Also, even though I'm not married, this comic was very like Nikita's and mine relationship. I enjoyed the book quite a bit.

** I received a copy of this via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review ** I became obsessed with Debbie Tung's art style after binge reading Book Love and Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, and her latest release did not disappoint. She has such a lovely outlook on life and it really shines through in each of her panels. She's not afraid to showcase the more vulnerable side of her anxieties, but balances them with the more lighthearted and sweet aspects of her life. Her work never fails to put a smile on my face and I always connect to some part of it. I simply adored her take on marriage and relationships, and I flew through this in one sitting because I loved it so much. If you're a fan of heartwarming comics, this'll be perfect for you.

Such a lovely, sweet and darling treat. Reading about real love is refreshing, it´s obvious it´s vulnerable reality.

It was cute and funny and the illustrations were good.

Really cute, thoroughly enjoyed this.
