I picked up this book because I thought it would be interesting to read about the spread of computer viruses and what it entails in today's world of instant communication. Well I have to say it was a harsh disappointment. It feels like Kunzru picked a topic and decided to craft a novel around it, not knowing how to go about it. The first few chapters are alright but the plot crumbles with the introduction of too many locations and characters (characters I found hard to have any sympathy for). The book was boring, without suspense and actually felt a bit out of date. I haven't yet read "The Impressionist", Kunzru's first (and very much acclaimed) novel and despite raving reviews, I'm not sure I really want to. "Transmission" was such a disappointment I think I will wait before I tackle any other book by Kunzru...
