I read this book a few months ago and realised I hadn't added it to my goodreads. After wondering for a few minutes what it was doing on my shelf but not my goodreads, I remembered that I had to put the book down for a while before I could think about reviewing it as my emotions were still in tatters.

The Nearest Faraway Place follows two brothers after a fatal car accident which killed their parents. Left orphaned, they are put up by their aunt and uncle who take care of them as best as they can. But Dylan is worried about his younger brother, Griff, who doesn't seem to be coping well with the huge changes in their lives. He doesn't want to talk to it and barely acknowledges the accident and its repercussions. Dylan himself has a lot to face up to as well, before he can even think about helping his brother and needs to move on himself. 

This book broke me. The premise is devastating enough, but following around two bereaved brothers who are barely coping with what life has thrown at them... it almost destroyed me. I can't fault this book, the way it handled grief and the tough subject matter, or the ending where I was lefty curled up in a ball on my bed clutching the book to my chest, trying to remember how to breath through the sobs. 

I fully recommend this book to everyone who has suffered through some bereavements of their own as it captured some of the emotions and feeling perfectly, in my opinion. it is also a perfect book to give someone if you feel like they need to let go and give in to their emotions. Just give them a box of tissues when you recommend it!
