A 1940s dark romance? Yeah, didn’t know I needed that. I was obsessed from the first page to the last. A good amount of that is because of H.D. Carlton’s writing. It’s amazing and so easy to read. I flew through this book and it was like no time passed. I honestly would have loved more than what we got because it did feel like it ended abruptly. But that could be because it had been a long time since I finished the Cat and Mouse Duet because the conclusion could have been said there and I can’t remember its exact details. But this was still so good and highly recommend and can’t wait for what H.D. publishes next.
