Questo libro può essere letto anche da solo, ma io personalmente consiglio di leggerlo dopo Ti ho trovata Adeline e Ti ritroverò Adeline. Sibby:"Tu non sei normale?" Zade: "Le persone interessanti non lo sono mai, cacciatrice di demoni" Sono super felice che il personaggio di Sibby sia stato approfondito,l’avevo già conosciuta nella dilogia di Adeline (il gatto e il topo) e mi ha incuriosita fin dal primo incontro. Sarà che adoro essere spaventata, sarà per la sua poca stabilità e sanità mentale, ma questa tenera e squilibrata assassina di demoni ha suscitato subito la mia simpatia. In questo libro capiamo da dove arrivano i problemi di Sibby, nata in una setta religiosa da una madre che era ancora una bambina e da un “padre” padrone che era a capo della congrega in cui vivevano, dettava le regole e puniva chiunque non vi si sottomettesse, abusava giovani donne, maltrattava moglie, figli e seguaci. Una vita di abusi fisici e mentali, subiti e visti, l’hanno portata ad essere l’assassina a sangue freddo che è ora. Perchè Sibby è esattamente come la bambola che impersona: rotta. A tenere insieme i pezzi ci pensano i suoi scagnozzi, la famiglia che si è creata dopo essere scappata dalla setta e aver ucciso suo padre, che si prendono cura di lei e la aiutano nella sua missione di eliminare i demoni. Il confine tra realtà e finzione è molto sottile, ai nostri occhi “normali” palese, ma per Sibby è tutta un’altra cosa. Nonostante sia un libro decisamente corto (145 pagine) al suo interno non mancano lo spicy e dettagli splatter da cinema! H.D. Carlton non ci delude mai!

- the gory scene of a rapist getting brutally tortured/murdered was CRAZY like CRAZY CRAZIEST thing... but if i said that should happen to more of them…

- “not that all evil people are men, but the majority who come through my house happen to be” see she is logical 

- smut scenes with more than 3 people always have me feel like i’m doing calculus trying to figure out where everybody is but good for her

- sibby being giddy about having her first platonic friend who claims her and describing him like an older brother pls 

- i already knew the main plot twist that was revealed in the epilogue but man it was still great

- i love revenge fantasy stories so i ate this up and loved it. short and dark



First Hd carlton book I’ve read and certainly not the last! The ending does leave me with some questions but honestly a great short read! Not for the faint hearted!

This book is not for everyone, possibly not even me. The psychological abnormalities of the characters were overshadowed by the grotesqueness of the murder and sex scenes. The main character had an interesting back-story that led to her unfortunate mental state but I felt that wasn't explored enough. I will admit that I didn't see the twist coming and from a psychological standpoint, the story was fascinating. I just personally could have down without the almost unrealistic sex scenes - which thinking of it no, should have been a clue to the ending.

i read haunting adeline before this novella so i knew kinda most of her story but sibby broke my heart, she became one of that characters that i just wanna protect, i love that demon slayer so so much. ❤️

also getting this glimpses of zade and addie agh the way sibby describes their smells as roses and burned roses pls just soulmatism shit. 

- "You can't hide from fate. That's the funny thing about destiny, even if you try to escape it, it will always find you."

- "But you can't silence heartbreak. It's loud and painful. Even after you grieve and heal, it lingers in the background, sliding back into your life just when you think you've overcome it." 

- "Immediately, I'm hit by the smell of iasmine and roses. My eyes nearly roll, but I keep them focused on the women. Both are beautiful, and stark contrasts to each other. One has long, beautiful cinnamon colored hair, with light freckles dotting her creamy skin. The other has smooth dark brown skin, light green eyes." 
(....) "I inhale, and nearly choke on the scent of him. He doesn't smell rotten, but he smells of fire and brimstone and something... sweet. Like... like burnt roses. He's definitely not pure. But I can't say he's evil, either." THE PARALLELS PLEASE

This book was.... Something. I was very attracted to someone hunting down evil people and killing them in the most horrific ways. Pedos, rapists, etc. A great pleasure to see such a fantasy in a book. Now, it did get weird when she literally got off on the act of doing so, and having an orgy with a mutilated corpse in the corner of the room. 

But what surprised me the most was the ending. The henchmen were honestly my favorite part. Just to find out they were a delusion. Just mannequins and sex toys mixed with  hallucinations. Was Zade real? Is that why he and the people she killed called her crazy? Because she actually was??

I thought this was a good book and I enjoyed it.

I love how this novella was a nice dark read full of gore, spice and horror. Some scenes were super hard to get through, specifically Sibby's past but it was a nice way to get back into the world of the cat and mouse duet through someone else's perspective. Sibby is such an interesting character and I'm glad I got to have a better look into her story. I felt like the first 100 pages went without plot and mainly consisted of straight gore and murder but it was definitely worth it and I'd recommend this to a seasoned thriller reader.

What a very dark, twisted, graphic, and interesting. Hands down this book is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. I honestly have no clue what else to say. 

Also, that epilogue. I did not see any of that coming.

I love the character of Sibby and all the different layers, but I didn’t really feel like the spice had a place in this book amongst all the gore. I think I would’ve much preferred this novella if there wasn’t so many sex scenes with the Henchmen and just focused on sibbys past and story line. 

The twist at the end was a good way to tie everything together and I’m glad I read this after the Haunting Adeline series because otherwise I’m not sure I would’ve been so inclined to read those books

This was not what I expected. It's very gorey, but very sexy as well. You feel sorry for Sibby as the story goes on, and the twist was not expected! A quick read before you start Haunting Adeline.

i loved i the characters of sibby is so good and her back story is interesting. In Loved the fact that at the end she found out everything was just her imagination. I didn’t expect that.

I enjoy the writing style but the plot and characters get an absolute 0.

The only reason I'm giving this book two stars is because of the ending, I was shocked 🙀 But other than that I wasn't that shook by this book. The only reason I read it was because it was recommended before reading Haunting Adeline.
