Makes a lot of sense

I enjoyed this book. The themes of the systemic rot of colonialism and the madness of man, set against the backdrop of the Congo River was quite the interesting premise.

Granted, the book is extremely tedious at times and gets boring in parts, particularly post-Kurtz. 

Coppola’s cinematic version of Kurtz was much superior, giving the character an overwhelming, terrifying presence that the book version lacked. 

Ultimately, a good read, but in my opinion remains highly overrated due to the success of Apocalypse Now.
