As usual I loved this one! It is fluffy, hilarious and action-packed (even though Alexia is VERY pregnant, which is something I don't generally care for but turned out to be quite funny in this book).

Even though I didn't care much for the overall plot (the big reveal at the end didn't scream epicness to me) I enjoyed myself as usual because Gail Carriger just knows how to make every mundane situation a matter of life and death (view spoiler)[(like the scene in the hat shop when Alexia creates a new fashion must-have in 2 minutes) (hide spoiler)]. I just love how characters talk and how they interact.

Even though some details (or big plot twists) were weird and I didn't really understand them, (view spoiler)[ like the fact that Alexia would not smell something was fishy when she invited the vampires to Woolsey,  (hide spoiler)] I had a great time and will pick up book 5 asap.

As usual the narration was perfect, 10/10! I really enjoyed the different voices that Emily Gray created for the characters, very recognizable and enjoyable.

Heartless indeed, I have been waiting for a year for this last instalment of the Parasol Protectorate to be published! ;-)

I just love this series, the characters, the humour, the crazy situations, weird creatures and strange contraptions... This particular book is even faster paced than the previous ones, I could hardly put it down and read it in two sittings. Now I have to wait until March 2012 for the next book in the series ("Timeless") to be published:(

As much as I loved this book, I have to admit I was a bit disappointed that it lacked some of the satirical wit found in the previous instalments of the series. Oh well, I hope the wit comes back with a vengeance in "Timeless", zombie porcupines allowing of course!

3 1/2 stars. This took me longer than the other three books to finish. The story only really starts to pick up just about half way through. It was wrapped up to conveniently, unbelievably so. I was worried I wasn't going to get that action packed ending I have come to expect from this series, but it came through in the end. Not my favorite so far but still enjoyable.
