I don’t exactly know why but I had such a hard time reading this one. My mind kept wandering. I had to force myself back in the story and re-read the same lines over and over again. I think most of it is because I don’t know much about the Royal Family and I didn’t get most of the references. Or maybe because I knew how it was going to end. (The first chapter starts at present day and then goes back in time until it reaches present day.) Although this is not always a bad thing when it is done well. The pace of the story is so slow that I kept losing interest. Overall it’s not a bad story, but something clearly didn’t work for me because it took me a lot longer that I was expecting to read it. I had to sprint through the last half because I just wanted to finish it. 😪

I really am struggling with this review. Overall the story is ok. But despite what people say, it’s not really funny. Don’t expect a rom com. It is absolutely William/Kate fan fic like people say. I love a good fall for the crown Prince story but this was not Hallmark or Hollywood’s “The Prince and Me”. It is nearly 500 pages and so many of those pages were superfluous. Oh it’s another drunken party/event. And another one. Oh there’s another one. And a lot of the hiccups on the path to getting married were forced. Maybe it could have used one or two less or maybe instead of making the original book 5 parts, it could have been released in to 5 novellas. 

I would give this 4 stars at most. I think it’s better than 3 but I can’t partial Star here.

Not knowing really anything about the actual Royal family... I cannot say if this book is similar to their legacy or not which seems to be one of the biggest issues with this book lol. 
What I can say though is that I ate this book up. As someone who loves Disney, Bridgerton, and any form of content that involves royalty, I could not finish this book quick enough. This book tells the story of, American, Rebecca Porter and Prince Nicholas of Great Britain. With flashbacks to important parts of their relationship on the eve of their wedding, this book kept me questioning what was happening in a way that I could not stop reading. 
I loved Rebecca and Nickolas' chemistry and how they were with each other. My only real issue with this book was Rebecca's sometimes inability to see a bright side and constant down mood for a decently substantial portion of the book. This kept me just wanting her to go get some help, talk to someone, anyone.
While a lot of reviews for this book claim it is too long and slow, I actually don't agree, but can see where they are coming from. This book is decently long at 452 pages, but I don't think there were many spots that I would've wanted cut. If this book were shorter, I do not think the story would be as intertwined and the characters would loose their liveliness. 
Recommended for anyone who loves a good royal story with many layers and smaller stories that all wrap into a nail biting and sweet ending.

I admit to watching a few of the Hallmark/Netflix type movies where a girl meets a guy and surprise he's a prince. So I thought this would be cute and fluffy, but I was surprised that the characters were more developed and more believable than some other Cinderella stories. Still pretty cute and fluffy, too.

I absolutely loved this book, I always enjoy the trope/cliche of rich and poor or royalty and non royalty couple. I think this was done very well. The book goes over years of Bex and Nick's life, how the met and their entire relationship up to the present. It really reminded me of the lifetime movie William & Kate. I thought the American girl and British guy aspect was quit interesting, learning the simple differences in language and traditions. The relationship showed all the hardships I'm sure a real version of this would experience. It is not an easy relationship to enter and I felt overwhelmed just hearing about it. This made me laugh, tear, smile. I flew through this audiobook. There were some actions that some characters did that I did not agree with and I wish didn't happen but it was discussed in a very raw way and wasn't treated l like it was okay. I feel like this book really showed how love is not easy and simple that everyone's love story is going to be different and not everyone is going to agree with it but at the end of the day it is your own story and as long as you and your partner agree to love and work together and want to be together than that is all that matters.

It did take me a minute to figure out the pacing and like Bex lol but I was soon very wrapped up in the fairy tale (or not) romance of it all! This brought back memories of watching The Prince and Me and pouring over Hello magazine for news about Kate and Will. I loved all of the side characters in here! Wow rich people have the oddest names and the craziest life stories but it was like watching a reality TV show that you just couldn’t turn off! .

This is more of a 2.5 for me but scoring it a 2 would be too harsh.
I only made it 75% of the way through. I wish I could bring myself to read the remaining 15% but I feel like that would be unjust torture. Especially since I’ve been on a really good reading high from my last few books.

I couldn’t tell if I just hated the characters or actually disliked the storyline and the characters. I can see what the authors were going for but it wasn’t working for me. Thus can be the problem with fan fiction based on real people. Toy just can’t mix Edward and Kate with Harry and Megan story lines. It just doesn’t work.

Looking back at my other 1* books, I feel like I have to revise that, because this is most certainly the worst book I have ever read. 

I have been reading the GFY blog for years and I am well aware of Cocks and Morgan's obsession with British royalty and blue and white striped shirts. The blog is funny, they can certainly write. But it's one thing to maintain a blog about fashion and a whole different endeavour to write a novel (and alas, it's not their only one...). I was also vaguely aware that this book is remotely based on William and Catherine, but I did not expect for it to be an actual fan-fiction.

I cannot even count the ways in which this novel is so bad. It's everything, from start to finish. For starters, it's too long - a story that could have been wrapped up in less than 200 pages, were it not for the uselessly long ramblings that talk about nothing. I found myself skipping entire paragraphs just to get to the point.

Then there are the characters, not one of them even remotely likeable. All the protagonists are annoying, there is nothing redeeming about them. All they do is get drunk, tick every British stereotype in the book and get shagged with anyone and everyone. Oh, and make one bad decision after another. Bex is probably one of my most hated characters in literature, she is whiny, uncouth, lacks basic manners (not talking about court etiquette here) and seems to change personalities as the wind blows.

The main love story seems forced, people are thrown together without rhyme or reason, things look a lot like a Mexican telenovela in terms of probability and believability. There are so many idiotic tropes, that I had predicted a lot of the things before they had already happened, (view spoiler)[such as Bex cheating her fiancé with his brother. (hide spoiler)] I know it's not my place, but I actually feel disgusted on behalf of the British royal family by how things are portrayed here. The writers should have invented their own kingdom a la Genovia, not take a dump all over the British monarchy.

Let me tell you, I sometimes enjoy the guilty pleasure of reading a trashy romance, it lightens things up. But this book is a train wreck. Its place is in a burning fire.

Content wise I think I would rank it 4 stars. I liked all the characters (although I got them confused sometimes) and liked the storyline in general. But, I did get some side characters confused and it felt much too long.

I'm an unabashed anglophile and royal watcher, and just hit all the right notes for me. I'm super behind on Internet culture, so I generally am not up on who is blogging, but you can bet your boots I'll be following the Fug Girls and their royal watch from now on.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to write a legit review for my work's blog, so I'll just keep this brief until I can gather my love thoughts in a coherent manner. Read this now!
