This felt kind of dragged on. I liked it a lot, but it felt like as soon as the intrigue ended, there would be so kind of desperate rebound

Lovely wrap to Emily & Wendell’s story. Some of my favorite world building I’ve ever read, the story felt easy to slip into like an old dream but with twists and quips that kept me on my toes.

I liked that the structure of the book did not go the obvious way. But there still remains the issue of climactic moments appearing underwhelming. Still an easy listen.

I found the first two installments of this series endearing, though not totally attuned to my taste. This book is the payoff. I thoroughly enjoyed this book; the atmospheric descriptions of creepy fae and a protagonist apart from the mindless adherence to recurring story themes, though still having an understanding of the world that requires the stories to live on. Very well done.

An adorable but satisfying conclusion to the series.

Emily and Wendell are in full on love this time around and Wendell is a man who uses Acts of Service as a love language. He takes on all those little jobs and tasks that just make Emily's life easier. Would it have been even better with a bit more adventure? Yes. But it was well paced and the romance pace was in keeping with the story.

The portal system, collecting all the legends & stories was a great way to weave in some suspense and tie all of their adventures together. There are some old friends popping up here and there and the humour is gentle, not over the top and raucous.

My favourite line is when Wendell just states "Mine". (swooooon)

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The third installment in the heartwarming and enchanting Emily Wilde series, about a curmudgeonly scholar of folklore and the fae prince she loves Emily Wilde has spent her life studying faeries. A renowned dryadologist, she has documented hundreds of species of Folk in her Encyclopaedia of Faeries. Now she is about to embark on her most dangerous academic project yet: studying the inner workings of a faerie realm—as its queen. Along with her former academic rival—now fiancé—the dashing and mercurial Wendell Bambleby, Emily is immediately thrust into the deadly intrigues of Faerie as the two of them seize the throne of Wendell’s long-lost kingdom, which Emily finds a beautiful nightmare filled with scholarly treasures. Emily has been obsessed with faerie stories her entire life, but at first she feels as ill-suited to Faerie as she did to the mortal world: How can an unassuming scholar such as herself pass for a queen? Yet there is little time to settle in, for Wendell’s murderous stepmother has placed a deadly curse upon the land before vanishing without a trace. It will take all of Wendell’s magic—and Emily’s knowledge of stories—to unravel the mystery before they lose everything they hold dear.
