Although this book is written as a standalone thriller or perhaps literary fiction with thriller elements, it still has enough hallmarks of the more typical cozy mysteries I read. For me, therefore, the identity of the murderer was obvious from early on but it was still a fun read.

I loved this book!!! The author's writing style and talent appealed to me immensely. I was mesmerized by the pacing, atmosphere, characterizations and plot.

This is a mystery about a deaf woman and her service dog, resolving to solve the murder of a friend, meanwhile putting herself in danger.
It involves snow, kayaking, disabilities, medical matters and has a cast of characters that are very well described. I never got the various players confused with each other which is quite a feat. A lot of authors do not fully flesh out their characters.

I loved the lead protagonist and her dog.

I would love this to be the first in a series, instead of a standalone.

Very talented writer.
