Major Pettigrew is not who he seems at first meeting. Well yes, he is an old school British retired Major with a strict code of what is right and what is wrong - most of which has to do with manners and the right thing to say. But we soon learn that he also moves past the superficial facade of good manners and actually believes that one should not tolerate prejudices and discrimination. He still has some valuable lessons to teach and learn and characters and plot both are full of surprises.

           A delightful read. I really loved how stuffy Major Pettigrew began to stand up for what is right, no matter what tradition and decorum dictate. A beautiful love story between two people who thought they would be alone. Loved it!
