I would've loved if i got a scene with nicholas groveling just on his damn knees begging for forgiveness but i cant always win i guess Buddy read with nicky~~

this is book 2 in the wicked wallflowers series, though “her wicked marquess” and “her darling duke” can be read as standalones (“her darling duke” was a favorite of mine last year!). nicolas and maryann are two characters that will be with me for a while. they are both engrossing, complex, and complicated characters that had me glued to the page to see where they would end up. this is also a darker historical romance which are my favorite kinds. this is a book that will not disappoint if you love complex revenge plots, surprise reveals, and a heroine who knows what she wants and goes after it! now let’s get down to the knitty-gritty! what I loved: -I loved how Nicolas and maryann met. it felt magical, like, fairy book magic -the revenge plot and Nicolas’ need to right the wrongs done to a loved one who passed is just the hero I love. he is honorable, multifaceted, and a perfect fit for maryann. -all the bedroom scenes with nicolas and maryann where he sneaks through her window are gold! -the FENCING SCENE IS THE BEST!!! -maryann’s strength and confidence in knowing what she wants when it comes to nicolas and going for it -maryann’s desires not to let her father dictate how her life goes and writing a list of how to get out of the predicament (the list is also a favorite aspect of this book). -pretty much everything about this book, I love it so much!! what I didn’t love: -nothing I can think of! do yourself a favor and pick up this glorious book, you won’t regret it! CW: violence against women, rape, and suicide are all mentioned

I am absolutely loving this series so far, and I knew this was going to be a 5 star read when Maryann is trying to set loose some snakes and bugs into her own ballroom to get back at a woman who is the bully of the season.. and she ends up accidentally roping Nicolas in on it.. Maryann is trying to figure out a way to get out of a marriage her father has arrainged.. Her idea is to use Nicolas a known rake to do that.. What she doesn't know is that Nicolas has his own mission.. One that would put anyone he can be linked to in danger.. The chemistry between the two of them was fire. and the ending left me completly satisfied with a feeling of happiness.. I just flew through this book, and can't wait for more of the sinful wallflowers.. Stacy Ried is an amazing writer and I will definitely be diving into her backlist as both books in this series are absolute favorites.

I have a new obsession with this series and I never thought I'd fangirl over romance novels but they are just SO GOOD. This one especially turned up the chemistry of the couple, the daring of the heroine, and the steamyness of the plot. I normally have issues with romances finding all characters likable and there is way too typically weird power plays or consent issues and I just love that those don't exist here. Maryann truly feels like an independent, strong, intelligent female character and Nicholas is refreshingly balanced in his dark, vengeful side and his sweet loving side. Also, this is coming directly from the fact I'm also reading Bridgerton right now but I LOVE that these two characters think about things other than just each other, it actually makes the romance more believable and likable.

I LOVE Stacy Reid's writing. It's intense, sensual, and emotional. I enjoyed this newest historical romance of hers so much! It's got a heroine who scandalizes herself to get out of an unwanted marriage, a hero hellbent on revenge, and late night conversations (and more) when he sneaks into her bedroom.
