A winning combo: whimsical narrative and expressive actions, with a couple poignant remarks and gratuitous characters/backgrounds sprinkled in. Oh, beautifully drawn, too.

The world that Hilda lives in is one I would like a train ticket to, please! There is all types of magical creatures roaming around her place (because she lives in seclusion [????]) like trolls, a wood man, giants, and others. Hilda herself is an adventurer and that is so fun to read. She also has a cool pet/deer/dog friend because of course she does. 

This comic is very short but has a good amount of words in it as well. Would recommend for a youngster that may be having issues reading since there is still plenty of images to convey the story.

Little blue-haired girls have all the fun and have awesome pets like Twig, and get to go on awesome adventures. This reminded me a bit of Adventure Time, albeit far sweeter. The art is stunning, with a Nordic color scheme and so beautifully detailed. I love Hilda's sense of adventure, and that so much of it has to do with the mundane (sleeping in a tent in the rain, reading books). I will definitely be introducing graphic novels/comics to my daughter with this one.
