History of Art

The fifth edition of this work is revised by the author's son, an art historian and museum curator. The new features include more than 40 concise discussions of cultural developments reflecting movements in art, from ancient Greek times through to the contemporary Postmodern era. The entries focus mainly on music and theatre, yet also include topics such as Greek and Roman mythology, Christian iconography, Western monastic orders and medieval guilds.
