A very fun and engaging read i had a few issues like i wish the side characters had more personality and development and part of the ending felt very sudden and forced but those things didnt take too much away from the book entirely i still enjoyed it alot and would recommend

This was such a fun, bingeable read. The mixed format, interviews, transcripts, project logs keeps everything dynamic and makes you feel like you’re building the case alongside Pip. The pacing is tight, the clues are layered well, and the tension steadily escalates without feeling chaotic. Pip herself carries the book. She’s smart, persistent, and occasionally reckless in a very believable teenage way. The small-town setting works beautifully too; everyone knows everyone, which makes the secrets feel both intimate and explosive. Did I guess everything? No. And that’s always a win for me in a mystery. It’s sharp, fast, and surprisingly darker than it first appears. A strong 4-star read that makes it very hard not to immediately pick up the sequel.

i devoured this, which is surprising in itself considering how it takes me ages to finish a book nowadays, but it was fast-paced and interestingly written and i adore it. the way pip throws herself into this world of criminals and drug dealers and potential murderers without as much as a second-thought is baffling and annoying, though. i also didn't really like the ending that much. the reveal itself was underwhelming and i think it would've been more gripping without what follows. either way, it was a very enjoyable read!

Ho adorato la scelta di differenziare la narrazione tra prima persona (registrazioni di Pip) a terza persona (narrazione generale), e tutti gli inserti che ci sono mi hanno fatta sentire molto più coinvolta. Credo di aver sospettato di tutti, dal primo all'ultimo, ed ero convintissima ogni volta, ma questo assassino non si fa prendere così facilmente, anzi! Si arriva alla fine convinti delle proprie capacità da investigatore e invece poi si scopre (o almeno nel mio caso è così) di essere a malapena in grado di trovare il proprio naso in mezzo alla faccia. Tra indizi, minacci, bugie ed omicidi questo libro si rivela una gradevolissima sorpresa. «E benché questa storia abbia parecchi mostri, ho scoperto che non vi si può molto facilmente separare il bene dal male. Alla fine, è una storia di persone, e delle loro differenti sfumature di disperazione, che si scontrarono le une contro le altre.»

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and eager to read the whole time. This is my first time reading a book by Holly Jackson and I like her characters. I wasn’t too fond of the writing style though. This book was written in third person and it may just be how I don’t see it much, but I found it bothering me and making it a bit harder to follow along. I wish I got more insight into Pip’s or Ravi’s character but we only got some. At times when the book was referring to someone it was hard to picture who. The story was great. I didn’t expect that plot twist and watching it slowly fall into place was really cool. I can’t read this book at night because the way everything is so carefully thought out makes me on edge. Justice for Barney 💔

And I’m excited to see what the other two books have in store for me.

I absolutely ate this book up. I loved the whole concept of the capstone project and her trying to solve a mystery from 5 years ago. It was great reading about all her interviews and how everything intertwined. I never fully guessed who it was until it was basically revealed, but it always nagged at me that Max found that picture of Andie in a classroom. Everything wrapped up so nicely, and I always wanted to know what Pip was going to find out next. Rip Barney :(

Nice easy read. I liked the reveals and how it all came together but I’m not itching to read the next two🤷🏽‍♀️

"a good girl's guide to murder book 1" is incredibly well-written. seriously, the scene descriptions, character emotions, and detailed production logs about the murder case are impressive. i also appreciated how the relationship between ravi singh and pippa fitz-amobi develops—from initial wariness to a romantic connection based on their shared interests. the andie bell case is intriguing, especially if you haven't seen the netflix adaptation. the contrast between andie's saintly image and the secrets she hides adds depth to the story. if you have the chance, i highly recommend reading this book. it stands out, especially since i often find many mystery and suspense horror novels poorly executed.

One of the best book I ever read, I mean what's not good about it, the storytelling, the characters, the twists...i thoroughly enjoyed the book, couldn't put it down.. Pip and Ravi is just perfect for each other, loved their chemistry...Holly Jackson u have become my absolute fav.

honestly enjoyed this way more than i thought i would!!! it immediately drew me in, i couldn't put it down once i started. i loved the characters, and the plot kept me on my toes, even though it was slightly predictable. all in all, i really enjoyed it, can't wait to move on to the next book! 🩷
