Good Girl's Guide to Murder

I really loved the writing style of this book. Showing Pip’s process of how she solved the murder and being taken through all her theories and interviews was an adventure.

Sarah Shields

As her senior capstone project, Pippa Fitz-Amobi is determined to find the real killer in a closed, local murder case, but not everyone wants her meddling in the past.

Love this story and book. This is the book that got me into reading

i read this book a few years ago, so i don't completely remember everything that happened in this book, but i remember liking it quite a bit and finding it very fun and thrilling to be able to solve a murder case with the narrator.

A very fun and engaging read i had a few issues like i wish the side characters had more personality and development and part of the ending felt very sudden and forced but those things didnt take too much away from the book entirely i still enjoyed it alot and would recommend

Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn't so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic for her final year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?

i devoured this, which is surprising in itself considering how it takes me ages to finish a book nowadays, but it was fast-paced and interestingly written and i adore it. the way pip throws herself into this world of criminals and drug dealers and potential murderers without as much as a second-thought is baffling and annoying, though. i also didn't really like the ending that much. the reveal itself was underwhelming and i think it would've been more gripping without what follows. either way, it was a very enjoyable read!

re-read this in 2025: girl WHATTTT was my review from 3 years ago ?!?!?!?! pip annoying???? that's princess.

NO JUST NO. PIP YOU PISSED ME OFF THE WHOLE BOOK IM NEVER PICKING THIS UP AGAIN.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and eager to read the whole time. This is my first time reading a book by Holly Jackson and I like her characters. I wasn’t too fond of the writing style though. This book was written in third person and it may just be how I don’t see it much, but I found it bothering me and making it a bit harder to follow along. I wish I got more insight into Pip’s or Ravi’s character but we only got some. At times when the book was referring to someone it was hard to picture who. The story was great. I didn’t expect that plot twist and watching it slowly fall into place was really cool. I can’t read this book at night because the way everything is so carefully thought out makes me on edge. Justice for Barney 💔

And I’m excited to see what the other two books have in store for me.

Pip is a delight. I love the different styles of how the interviews are conducted, how we can tell what is pips writing and what’s the story. I loved the writing. I love the relationship between Ravi and Pip, it felt natural! I liked how it felt realistic how pip unraveled things. I will be continuing this series cause I love the characters and how everything has been written. I get why this book always ends up on people’s fave lists. I love the relationship Pip has with the people around her.

“I don’t trust people who drink their tea black”…. I feel attacked!

“Real men wear floral when trespassing” Ravi I love you 😂… nevermind he doesn’t like cats, red flag!

For readers of Kara Thomas and Karen McManus, an addictive, twisty crime thriller with shades of Serial and Making a Murderer about a closed local murder case that doesn't add up, and a girl who's determined to find the real killer--but not everyone wants her meddling in the past. Everyone in Fairview knows the story. Pretty and popular high school senior Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself. It was all anyone could talk about. And five years later, Pip sees how the tragedy still haunts her town. But she can't shake the feeling that there was more to what happened that day. She knew Sal when she was a child, and he was always so kind to her. How could he possibly have been a killer? Now a senior herself, Pip decides to reexamine the closed case for her final project, at first just to cast doubt on the original investigation. But soon she discovers a trail of dark secrets that might actually prove Sal innocent . . . and the line between past and present begins to blur. Someone in Fairview doesn't want Pip digging around for answers, and now her own life might be in danger. This is the story of an investigation turned obsession, full of twists and turns and with an ending you'll never expect. "Fun, gripping, and skillfully constructed." --Emily Arsenault, author of All the Pretty Things

Surprisingly both sweet and so grave. Pip is a sweetheart !

I absolutely ate this book up. I loved the whole concept of the capstone project and her trying to solve a mystery from 5 years ago. It was great reading about all her interviews and how everything intertwined. I never fully guessed who it was until it was basically revealed, but it always nagged at me that Max found that picture of Andie in a classroom. Everything wrapped up so nicely, and I always wanted to know what Pip was going to find out next. Rip Barney :(

Nice easy read. I liked the reveals and how it all came together but I’m not itching to read the next two🤷🏽‍♀️

It was so gooooooooooood. I love Pip, though I do feel like there wasn't any chemistry between Ravi and her.

"a good girl's guide to murder book 1" is incredibly well-written. seriously, the scene descriptions, character emotions, and detailed production logs about the murder case are impressive. i also appreciated how the relationship between ravi singh and pippa fitz-amobi develops—from initial wariness to a romantic connection based on their shared interests. the andie bell case is intriguing, especially if you haven't seen the netflix adaptation. the contrast between andie's saintly image and the secrets she hides adds depth to the story. if you have the chance, i highly recommend reading this book. it stands out, especially since i often find many mystery and suspense horror novels poorly executed.

One of the best book I ever read, I mean what's not good about it, the storytelling, the characters, the twists...i thoroughly enjoyed the book, couldn't put it down.. Pip and Ravi is just perfect for each other, loved their chemistry...Holly Jackson u have become my absolute fav.

I fully intended to keep this as a lunch time work read, but then I got so into it, that I needed to figure out what happened and read it all Friday night.

I fully intend to read this entire series.

It was giving modern day Nancy Drew vibes, and I'm obsessed.
