Where Good Girls Go To Die: A Second Chance Romance The Good Girls Series Book 1

Holly Renee2017
It was a bad idea from the beginning. He was my brother's best friend and the definition of unavailable. But I didn't care. I had loved him for as long as I could remember. He was worth the risk. He was worth everything. But then he broke my heart as easily as I fell for him. He watched me fall, spiraling out of control, and as I reached for him, he wasn't there to catch me. So I ran. Four years later, I never expected to see him again. He was still my brother's best friend, and he was more unavailable than ever. He looked every bit the bad boy I knew he was, covered in tattoos and a crooked smile. Guarding my heart from him was top priority because Parker James was where good girls go to die. Unfortunately for him, I wasn't a good girl anymore.

Firstly.. Parker James. That’s it, that’s the review. KIDDING! This book had everything I was looking for: Brothers best friend ✅ Emotional reunion ✅ Tattooed love interest ✅ Short and sweet ✅

Nope, this was just sorta disappointing!! I just didn't feel anything about this book it was too convenient, too predictable, and the whole story felt forced. The only thing I truly liked was the tiny bits of sexual tension and normally if the pull and chemistry are strong enough I can get past the other stuff, but that never happened. The flashbacks interrupted the flow of the ongoing story and never connected me to the two main character's romance. Also, can I say what's the point of making her a stripper at the beginning? She is brokenhearted so she moves away to university only for that to go bad, so instead, she becomes a stripper wtf?! Seeing as she gets fired after almost the first chapter and we never get any additional information, it seemed more like a quick way to draw people into the first few pages. Maybe I was under the illusion this would have had more angst or been darker (like the cover or the title suggest) but really everything was lacking here. Short read but not worth the time.

It’s okay, nothing special. Honestly I thought it would be a crime related book but that’s my fault for not reading the summary

This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews.   This is the year of me reading books by new-to-me authors and Holly Renee makes it to the list. When Imani from Enamored Reads told me about this book, the first thing that caught my attention was the cover, the red tones it has and how simple it is; the second thing was the title and I knew I had to read this. I'm so glad I gave this book and author a chance because I'm definitely reading more from this author! Seduction was in the air, and I was the temptress. Liv had her heart broken when she was young by her brother's best friend, Parker. As soon as she had the opportunity to leave town, she did. Unfortunately, things didn't work out so well in the long run and her job ended up being a stripper. After so many years, she encounters Parker at the club she works at along with her brother Mason, who immediately tells her to pack her things so he can bring her home. When Liv finds out why Parker was at the club, she doesn't want to leave with Mason, but she reluctantly says yes. She ends up getting offered a job by Brandon, Parker's friend, at a tattoo shop as the receptionist and she agrees, not knowing that Parker co-owns the store. Slowly things start to unfold in an angsty way that I couldn't get enough of! "I may have been a good girl then, but you destroyed every piece of her." There's so much hurt, betrayal, angst, hate, but Holly Renee did a fantastic job in making me so engaged in the story that I didn't care how much angst this book had. Heck, I was loving it! I read this book in one sitting, okay?! This hadn't happen in a while so I was happy this book brought that out. The chemistry between Parker and Liv is so explosive and intense and swoon-worthy! Parker is fiesty just as he is hot. And Liv is this great heroine who is upfront, doesn't take shit from people and is a great kick-butt female character. Not only were the main characters great, but the side characters like Mason, Brandon and Staci were just as fantastic (I need each one of them to have their own book)! I knew from experience that girl had quite a bit of fire inside her. When she burned, everyone else burned with her. Where Good Girls Go to Die is a great angsty second-chance love story that will grip your attention from the very first page. It will give you all the feels! Plus, each character adds their own spin to the story that made me love it even more! She was chaos and madness, her heart never sitting still for long, and when I was with her, everything else crumbled away and I felt like I was home. This book was a bit different than I expected. It started out dark and sexy and I thought it was going to continue in that vein but it lightened up considerably. It was an enjoyable book, but I think it needed to either stay dark or start lighter, the start didn’t really fit with the rest of the book for me. Still give it a try!

I keep wishing that this book had a little more angst, and I think that's been my only issue with it. I would definitely recommend this book, and have been looking forwards some time to sit down with the author's other books.

Cute, passionate, quick story. This is a good read for someone who wants a quick second-chance, brothers-best-friend trope. It's not overly dramatic and doesn't have a huge climatic ending or event - I dare to call it a "light" read.

Love is a word that is too weak and used too often to describe what I feel for you. It’s relentless and desperate, and every time you smile I fall harder and harder.

People come into our lives for a multitude of reasons. Some come for fleeting moments, some are there for a lifetime, and then there are those, the ones who it doesn’t matter how long they are a part of your life. They make such an impact that a moment with them is more poignant than a lifetime with someone else.
