I have found that self help books often have little impact on your success, but they can help you transform your thinking. As a golfer, I don’t think this book helped me improve my scores yet, but it really helped me with my attitude. 

Here are some of my key takeaways:
- create your own reality - the subconscious brain listens to what you say to others as well as yourself; the way you see yourself is your most important talent 
- sports often rely on the subconscious - so visualize and smile! for golf - grab a club, look at the target, see a trajectory, and hit it; focus on process over outcome 
- option can’t guarantee success, but pessimism guarantees failure 
- do not settle for mediocrity; being “realistic” is usually a way of justifying negative thinking
- see how good you can get! value your competitors for pushing you to be your best
- you can’t control the outcome, but you can still take pride in the effort you produce every day and your positive attitude
