Some lovely, so heart-wrenching, but some confusing as hell stories in this anthology. In particular "Without Saying" reads as a fever dream. And not in a romantic, post-modern stream-of-consciousness way. Overall, not a waste of time. Just not a first choice.

Today my book was How They Met and Other Stories by David Levithan. I’ve been a fan of Levithan’s work for a while–he’s a great writer–and I felt like re-reading this book again, a collection of short stories. 

Most of them were fantastic. Some were, of course, better than others. I think my favorite had to be the first one, Starbucks Boy, though I may be influenced by the love story of my favorite couple ever (Kurt and Blaine from Glee). I also liked the one where Rory and Roger met on the airplane. The last few stories weren’t all that great in my opinion. 

I’ve read this book once before, but I love and appreciate it for its variety of stories across cultures, genders and places. It’s one of the books that show that love can happen anytime, anywhere.

Like most/all things David Levithan writes, this was pretty great.
Like in most short story collections, I like some stories more than others.
