Hmm, this was not nearly as good as book 1. An odd emphasis on actually gruesome violence, instead of cartoon-like violence for a kids book. I'm also not a big fan of things like slavery and cannibalism casually being used to terrify small children- although to be clear, neither actually come to fruition. I still enjoyed it overall, but book 2 gave me pause about if I would actually encourage youngin's in my life to read the series.

The theming of this book is better than the first. I’m a huge fan of the movies, but these books are very fun. The audiobook is superior.

Another gem. The introduction of Alvin the Treacherous, one of my favorite villains of all time. My 9 year-old loved it!

Swashbuckling, entertaining escapism.
