For some reason I got obsessed with Girard. His anthropological analysis of the world through the lenses of mimetic desire is brilliant. His works are hard to digest, so I would recommend making notes on how he defines a few concepts across this and his other works, he even does this at the start of the book so don’t skip it or read it in a rush otherwise the rest of the book will not make any sense to you. 

And I believe he is correct when he speaks about the return of the scapegoat mechanism, we are already seeing it, and it’s a reason to keep you from sleep. 

Great thinker, great book.
