I was expecting her to die but not in the way she did. I really wish she had been able to do more before it happened. Even if you're prepared for her death, it still hits hard when it happens. Compared to the main character she had a really strong personality that left a big impression. Then again what else can you do when you know you have little time left to live.

           Okay but this was such a good book. I literally could not put it down. The ending felt very bittersweet, I’m so mad that they didn’t get enough time together. It didn’t make me cry but my heart did feel sadder.

"SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL, INSIGHTFUL AND THOUGHT PROVOKING"

A pure gem of a manga to say the least. It's beautifully written, the artwork is really amazing. The characters are well written and relatable. And simply put, this manga manages to pull up basic philosophical stuff splendidly just through the character dialogues. And obviously when you focus on a good story, they're mostly loose on the plot, there's not much going on. Similarly the plot of this manga is pretty basic yet that's the beauty of it. Through such a simplistic plot it manages to be influential on different roads of life, it teaches you how you should take things one step at a time. How you should admire the ephemeral things and feel them wholeheartedly, how you should value deeper connections with people around you and how these connections be it with friends, colleagues, parents, teachers can have a significant impact on your life.There are much more underlying themes discussed in this manga and I'd recommend everyone to give this one a try.

Ok, so this ending.... WHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHYWHY!!!! She was so sweet and innocent and he was just fully realizing he had feelings for her. The worst case scenario in my mind was she died like, a month early from her cancer, but then she got FREAKING STABBED IN AN ALLEYWAY!!!!! What. the. hell!! (i never say hell, but this is an important issue.) At least she read the last text message. :) SIKE. It still hurts. I'm sorry if you can't read this and it doesn't make sense, but I'm upset. I would definitely recommend this though! I'v also never read manga before this, and it was a little confusing at first, but after a while I got a hang of it.

A light novel that really match up with the manga and the anime. The book is very touching but despite being a contemporary translation, there are a few pages where the reader might find it hard to keep up. I suggest reading the book in a single go. Definitely very depressing but also heart warming.

i’d like to preface this review with the fact that this book left me snotty nosed and crying on the phone with my girlfriend.

on the one hand, i want to eat your pancreas could have turned out to be extremely trite, but it didn’t. it was extremely life-affirming and emotionally impactful.

apart from that, the story also explores what relationships mean to us and how they define us. how people impact us and how we impact them. the innate beauty of recognizing yourself in others, as living, breathing humans. 

the manga portrays everything beautifully and effectively appeals to your sense of humanity with how it deals with deals with themes of morality, love, and loss. it truly makes you think and want to live. 

this manga manages to be insightful without shoving weighty, profound pinnacles of philosophy into your head. it leaves you to draw your own conclusions without seeming patronizing, and maintains a healthy balance of humor and looming grief. 

in its own way, a masterpiece.

Dopo aver visto il film d’animazione, il live action e letto il manga, posso dire di aver visto tutte le sfaccettature di questa opera e averla potuta apprezzare a pieno. I vari livelli del loro rapporto (dall’amicizia, all’amore, alla metafora per la vita sociale) sono ognuno scelto e reso al meglio in ciascuna opera, e in tutti i casi la storia risulta splendida, valida e toccante. Manca il libro, introvabile in Italia.
