This was such a heartbreaking read, I absolutely love Emma's style of writing her books are amazing. I really enjoyed this one definitely 5 stars from me.

I read Emma’s first book The Songs of Us recently and loved it (although it broke my heart!). If I Could Say Goodbye Emma has done it again with a beautiful book which covers grief and mental health in a sensitive and empathetic way.

When Jennifer Jones loses her little sister Kerry (who is also her best friend) in a tragic accident her grief is all encompassing. Although she has the perfect life full of family and happiness, all she can think about is that it should have been her who died instead. She takes solace in 25 years of wonderful memories of her sister, but over time this pushes her family further and further away. She knows she needs to let Kerry go in order to get her life back but can she face having to say goodbye to Kerry for good?

Once again Emma has woven a book full of characters that are so real you can imagine going for a cup of coffee with them. Jen and her husband Ed in particular are fantastic and as the story switches between their perspectives we learn so much more about them and the story. I was completely swept up in their story and shed more than a few tears in the final chapters.

The importance of family and the love and support they provide for each other is at the heart of this story. With a world in such upheaval at present, and so many people having to be separated from their loved ones, this is something which I think many people have come to appreciate more than ever. 

I would highly recommend this book to people who enjoy the writing of authors such as Marian Keyes and Jojo Moyes.
