The first time I ever listened to Purple Rain by Prince was in the background reading this book. Chapter 34. Nothing will probably ever feel as good as this ever again, probably. This is her best book. Mhairi McFarlane'ss books can sometimes feel like Madlibs, but this is the best version of that yet. I feel like I just unlocked a new part of my brain. Laurie and Jamie are my favourite character by far.

This book is so good that my mind imagined the entire movie in HD. Georgina Campbell as Laurie. Corey Mylchreest as Jamie. I see it so vividly, frame by frame. YOU SEE IT!!!

This was fine. I don't think anything about it was mind-blowingly good or blood boiling bad. Very middle of the road.

I loved the book, it gave me just butterflies when Jamie was talking to her and how he stood up for Laurie. I also really liked the banter in this book, which made it a fun and easy read.

A slowburn fake dating relationship between grounded yet fun adult characters? This book is exactly the romance I’ve been craving. It was cute but it gave the characters enough backstory that it didn’t feel too fluffy or unrealistic. It also had Marian Keyes vibes which I adore. Considering how PG13 most of their relationship was, you could definitely feel the chemistry between Laurie and Jamie. I read this book in one night and I’ve been struggling with finding a good romance book so my feelings might be a little distorted but I really liked it.

I had a good time reading this, read it in a day. Kept me interested and really like our main characters.
It's not a new favourite but still enjoyed it.
I just didn't connect to the romance like I would have wanted to and I didnt love the ending.
I think the book could have been sorter.

This is my third Mhairi McFarlane book and she is fast becoming one of my favourite romance authors. She writes real stories that feature pain and heartache. Her characters have rounded out back stories which helps you understand them more. They make you feel emotional and so happy at the end. I just love them. And I think this was my favourite so far. And me being fickle with my fictional boyfriends, I have fallen in love with Jamie Carter.

This book was a slow burn for me. A very, very slow burn. The overall plot of the book is something I am very much familiar with, but this style of writing took me a while to process. I can only categorize it as inner noise. You will get a lot of inner thoughts from the female lead, I just wish it could have balanced out to the male lead as well. 

It has a great underlying message about the people you meet in your life. That was one of the highlights and my favorite takeaway. 

Aside from the detailed thoughts, I had very strong feelings about the ending of this book and not necessarily in a good day. No spoilers, but I felt like once I was finally settled with the story literally the last two pages just made me want to toss my kindle. 

Overall a very sweet, very fun, lighthearted read to pass the time!
