Oh wow I didn't like this. 

The first half was great! I was excited about the characters and plot. The banter between the two was good and they had real chemistry. I was glad the inciting incident happened very quickly and was resolved just as quickly. There were some minor things that bothered me--why Miranda was so caught up with Robert, why did everyone think Miranda was such a troublemaker. These things were explained in the book but it read as more giving a reason than actually making sense. But you know what? I was ok with this as they didn't really affect anything major. But then, but then the second half.

After Miranda and Sebastian become intimate it was all downhill. The two acted out of character. (view spoiler)[ They both knew they shouldn't have sex (typical trope) but instead of either having a fight or resolving it peacefully it drug the 2nd half of the book out saying I won't marry you but I love you. So stupid and wrecked my enjoyment of the book (hide spoiler)]

I wish I could have liked it more, but I didn't and won't be continuing the series.

Oh man, am I a becoming an historical romance reader? Will my bookshelf start to hold small mass paperbacks? Do I even know who I am? 

Anna Harrington's if the Duke Demands has me questioning my apprehensions. 
This book gave me so much steam I thought the kindle was going to catch on fire. Not something I was expecting. What a pleasant surprise!

Even though Miranda was unfamiliar with high society, I found her character quick and adaptable. Unlike some characters in her position, she didn't let much past her and it made it easy to root for her. She had spirit and drive which is always a plus. Well suited for Sebastian. 

The downside to this book was the quick resolution/ending. Everything seemed so rushed. It's not that I wanted the "spat" to drag on but I wanted to see Sebastian truly come to the conclusion that he loved her and how he would come to show her. What we got seemed like a bandaid on a knife wound. However I couldn't let that ruin the rest of the book for me.

Gotta love a historical that starts off with the heroine accidentally kissing the wrong brother 😂

This was adorable! We’ve got a clash of the classes type of historical romance with a duke hero falling for his tenant farmer’s daughter. The beginning was hilarious with the mistaken identity. The romance is sweet, though Sebastian is frustrating when he gets so into his head that he HAS to marry someone proper and not a farmer’s daughter. He also absolutely could’ve groveled more at the end - Miranda took him back way too easily after the awful things he said.

But otherwise I really enjoyed this!
