I love a good sports romance and I *really* love football, so I'm happy when my loves can combine in a great read. That's exactly what happened with The Last Guy. I wouldn't really peg this one a sports romance since Cade is retired, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit that was part of my motivation for reading it in the first place. Regardless, this was hot and sexy, swoony and sweet. I read it cover to cover in a couple hours and regret absolutely nothing. I do love a good office romance — particularly when it's not of the billionaire variety. I loved this one so much because Cade and Rebecca were such real, normal and believable characters. I connected with both characters early on. I liked Rebecca's drive for her career, even when things didn't seem to be panning out as she hoped. She was a little awkward — or at the very least, had SERIOUSLY awkward things happen to her sometimes — and sassy. Cade was super hot and thankfully not the player I thought he might be. (Even if I did side-eye him once or twice.) Their chemistry was off the charts hot, so that made for some steamy AF sex scenes. (Did I mention Cade had a filthy mouth? Rawr.) The secondary characters were almost as good as Cade and Rebecca. Rebecca's roommate and friend Chas was wonderful. So was Cade's brother Trent. I'd totally read books about those two if they were ever to become main characters. They both played an important part in bringing Cade and Rebecca together, so I absolutely adore them. The Last Guy was a wonderful, sexy, sweet and funny book that was definitely of the unputdownable variety for me. I totally read it cover to cover in one sitting. This isn't the first time I've done that with one of Ilsa's books, but Tia is a new-to-me author. I'll be checking out her backlist as time allows. Until then, I'll be in happy, feel-filled book hangover mode from this one. I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. FAVORITE QUOTES Cade Hill is the sexiest, most intimidating man I know, with a beard I might have imagined between my thighs more than once.
