This book was an emotional rollercoaster. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me look at Sally Field in an entirely different way.

Sally wrote a deeply personal book that gives us a big glimpse into her life from a very young age. She talks a lot about her difficult relationship with her mother and dysfunctional relationships with men. Her stepfather definitely had a huge impact on her. A lot of parts were difficult to read. Especially where her stepfather was concerned. 

The thing I appreciate is that it isn't just a "woe-is-me" book. Lord knows she has a lot to complain about and she should, but she doesn't shy away from her own mistakes and how she could've handled things differently in the past. Especially where her children are concerned.

She also talks about her acting career and how she, on the one end, struggled to be taken seriously as an actress after playing The Flying Nun and, on the other, struggled with feeling inadequate as an actress for years and years. Not even winning 2 Academy Awards could take that away.

She also talks about her past relationships and I can tell you: I will never look at Burt Reynolds the same way ever again.
