Theodore Kaczynski

He was a gifted mathematician, one of the youngest people to ever teach at Berkeley, a product of the CIA's MKUltra program while a student at Harvard, a recluse and a part-time philosopher. He was also a terrorist, known to the FBI by the acronym UNABOM (UNiversity and Airline BOMBer), thus the media moniker UNABOMBER. His manifesto, "Industrial Society & Its Future" is, in part, the disturbed rantings of a neo-Luddite, as well as a critical analysis of late, modern capitalism and the ills of an over-consumptive society seemingly hell-bent on its own destruction.

"It is important not to confuse freedom with mere permissiveness." Theodore John Kaczynski (1942-) or also known as the Unabomber, is an Americandomestic terrorist and anarchist who moved to a remote cabin in 1971. The cabin lackedelectricity or running water, there he lived as a recluse while learning how to be self-sufficient. He began his bombing campaign in 1978 after witnessing the destruction ofthe wilderness surrounding his cabin.

           Very thought-provoking essay aiming to show technology’s destructive effect on society by announcing that freedom and technology are incompatible. I must admit that the author has foreseen technological effects on human psychology and control of the society. For humans to have fulfilled life, his offered solution seems to be returning back to the nature and stopping technological progress by pure destruction. 
On the side of technological criticism, Kaczynski is criticising leftist movements in aims for power (such as feminist, animal rights, “politically correct” etc.) and due to technological disruption, which has made life unfulfilling for many, their aims for useless goals or surrogate activities (as wealth building). 
Main point I can agree with is: identity crisis is crisis of meaning. However, the reader must keep in mind that revolution against technology is not a promise for fulfilling life and you still have to define this fulfilment for yourself.
