Tris embraces her Divergence gradually as she struggles over something she did in the fighting near the end of Divergence (don't want to give a spoiler from the last book.

Well, this was fantastic.
I'm not even kidding. So many things the first book didn't give me, the second part did and even more, much more than what was needed to earn my satisfaction. It was so, so much better than Divergent and I don't even know what more I should say besides the overwhelming urge to start reading the last book right now. 
The plot, now it has blossomed, is just simply brilliant.
That's all I can say but I think it's enough.

           Ve druhém díle sledujeme hlavní hrdiny a jejich záchranu města společně s jejich postupným vývojem a poznáváním se navzájem. Tris si hraje na neporazitelnou a bojovnou hrdinku v snad tom nejhorším vztahu co jsem kdy viděla, Čtyřka je celou knihu bůh ví kde, ostatní jsou na sebe naštvaní a to je tak nějak celá podstata knihy. 
Pojďme si prosím více probrat vztah Čtyřky a Tris; nechápu, nerozumím tomu, jak mohla Veronica Roth do knihy pro mládež zasadit tak neskutečně ošklivý vztah založený na lhaní si a křičení na sebe. Jo, jasně, pokud by v závěru jednomu z hrdinů došlo, že jejich vztah stojí za nic a řekli by to, rozešli se, tak ok, předám tím čtenářům zprávu, že tenhle vztah je skutečně toxický a že by se mu měli obloukem vyhnout. Ale autorka spolu ty dva nechala. NECHALA. Po tom všem, co si navzájem udělali, když si navzájem ani nevěřili, myslím, že se sakra ani rádi neměli.. 
Uff, to je jedno, je to jen příběh, ale ten vztah mě na něm naštval snad víc než celé táhnutí se příběhu.

i had such high hopes for this because of how much i loved the first book but this really left me disappointed? didnt understand tris’ motives and the relationship between her and four was just not even remotely enjoyable to read about. yeah its war yeah its gonna be difficult but the amount of miscommunication/lies was just infuriating. thankfully it was very fast paced but it just felt so shallow compared to the original :/

Is. The. Most. Epic. Book. EVER.
Yep, you heard me.
First, we meet Amity, the factionless, then Candor and have fun getting to know those people. Then a couple characters die and Tris feels bad and turns herself into Erudite, which was a very stupid decision, NOT the first stupid decision she made over the course of the book, nor he last, but the first stupid decision she made for a good reason. There is drama between her and Tobias (I am fangirling at the mention of his name) and drama between her and Christina (which you can probably guess what is about, if you were paying any attention during Divergent AT ALL.)
Then Caleb does something—or rather, something Caleb has done or has been doing is revealed, and made me (much to the behest of my brothers, who yelled, and I quote, “Shut up, Monica!”) shout: NOT COOL!
And my shouting NOT COOL at what Caleb did is probably the understatement of the century, but I couldn’t really think of anything else to say. 
Much war is made between Erudite and the leftover Dauntless who ally with the Factionless (cuz they’re stupid) and secrets of wwha’s ‘outside the fence’ made by Marcus, Caleb, and others.
The total death toll of this book lands at somewhere around five important, named characters. Actually, we met one character, started to like him, and then he died ONE CHAPTER LATER. Yeah, that’s a pot of awesome sauce. *sarcasm*
Tris and Tobias have some lovely fighting moments, some lovely making up moments, and at he end, a test of true love, as I like to call it. Tobias almost fails that test. As a fangirl, I was just about in tears.
Some of my favorite quotes: 

 “Oh, yeah,” I say, nodding. “It’s  so  easy. All I have to do is go up to you and say, ‘By the way, I shot Will, and now guilt is ripping me to shreds, but what’s for breakfast?’ Right?  Right?" 

This, I think, is one of the best lines in the book because it’s her confession, and its sad and saturated with guilt, but its all lost in anger and sarcasm. 

 He leans towards me like he’s going to kiss me, then seems to think better of it and leans back, biting his lip. It’s a small act, but it still feels like rejection. 

It feels like rejection, Tris, because it is. That right there is literally the definition of rejection.

 “No matter where I stand, I’ll still think mind controlling an entire city of people is evil.” 

I totally agree.

Oh, yeah, and at the end of the book, we find out a huge secret about what has become of the rest of humanity and what's ominous and ‘outside the fence’ and the originator of Tris’s line, which brings me back to what I originally said about this being The. Most. Epic. Book. EVER.

btw, I know I have it marked as five stars, but it's literally, like, ten stars.

Much of Insurgent is taken up with the the residents of the compound falling under unexpected simulations. If these would be rebels are smart enough to be capable of undoing their society — why are they so easily, and repeatedly fooled? This is more of a case of fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice shame on me. This is upwards of fool me a dozen times, I'm gullible!

I seriously don't know why I love these books SO MUCH. I mean, they just drive me crazy. The entire world of this story just takes over my brain as soon as I start reading. It's amazing. And while I can say Divergent was definitely better, this book was not that far behind.
There were a few problems I did come across with this book though. For some reason, I kept getting confused along the way. I don't know if anyone else had this problem but, I kept loosing track of what was happening or forgetting something that had maybe been mentioned a few pages before. Now I don't know if this was simply because my brain just sucks sometimes and I wasn't, I don't know, fully paying attention or something but maybe the author could have made some things a little more clear. And I did find myself getting a little frustrated with the Four and Tris relationship, simply because I hated that they were having problems! I completely understood why and I sympathized with both of them and I totally got everything. I think it just threw my fangirl heart for a loop. At the same time though I liked that the problems they were having made their relationship more real and authentic. Real life relationships aren't flowers and happiness ALL the time.
This book picked up right were the first left off and immediately picked up. I hated to put it down. This book was just so action packed and emotional and GREAT the whole time, I loved it. It took me a while to read it because of my recent busy summer schedule but I know that if I hadn't of been busy, I would've finished it in a super short amount of time.
The last few chapters of this book I was DYING. So much was happening and going on but I could't believe how it ended. I literally sat there and smiled at the pages, totally thrilled and in awe. And intrigued. I seriously can't wait to read the next one!

In this installment, we witness Tris's way of coping with what has happened to her and all around her. I couldn't connect with her much in this one... Hence, the prolonged hiatus from this book. I didn't love it as much as I loved Divergent but it would suffice. But the cliffhanger was totally unexpected, okay? Totally unexpected indeed.

Divergent was a balance between action and emotion. But Insurgent, on the other hand, was more action-packed than it was emotional. Ms. Roth kind of tipped the scale a little bit. I guess, it was okay.

Liked it more than divergent, but still not filling my expectations. *Spoiler alert* They cried too much, got away safetly all the time, did imposible things, and the romance was minimum, not passionate, just in one parragraph it was kind of hot and then everything else that happened were just fights between the coupple. I would define this book dissapointing but entertaining.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth (2nd in series)

This book is the second in a young adult dystopian trilogy. In this book, Tris and Four are trying to recover from the deadly fight that ensued between warring factions. Additionally, Four (or Tobias) reconnects with his estranged mother, who is in charge of the Factionless. Tris is not sold on the reunion but the couple have more than that issue to deal with before living happily ever after.

I really enjoyed both books in this series so far and will begin Allegiant in the near future to finish out the series. These books are action-packed with complex and interesting characters. They are quick reads that I highly recommend.

Wow! This novel has really blown my mind… and my socks right off. At first I thought it wasn’t going to measure up the first book. It started off a little slow, but boy did it pick up speed. I am so impressed with this novel that it actually made giddy, upset, sad, irritated, and at the end (the last page to be exact) left me speechless!

Honestly I don’t even know where to begin.

I’ll start with the fact that I can’t decide if I like or dislike Tris. I find her exciting at some points and really stupid in others. I know the whole purpose of her character is to show that you can be more than one thing and that they go hand in hand, but sometimes I want to just jump inside the novel and strangle her. Not to mention I am completely jealous of her (in a book character kind of way) in that Tobias loves her and yet she still goes behind his back, lies to him, and ultimately tries to get herself killed on multiple occasions.

I liked how we got see more of the different factions in this novel; a little more of what they were created on, how they function, and what their people are like. I found it completely fascinating that they could all focus on one trait so much. I loved how the characteristic that each was founded on was positive, but that was also accompanied by negative traits as well.

The plot twists were unbelievable and still have my mind reeling. I loved the feeling of being trapped; first in Candor- especially the truth serum and Tris’s reconciliation with Christina, then in Erudite- (which I have to admit was a little confusing at first) with all of the simulations and Tobias showing up… there were times I wasn’t sure what was a simulation and what wasn’t. I loved the character turnarounds specifically Peter and Caleb. And then for the shocker on the last page………..

There was a ton of bloodshed which was a little much for me. I am always one for a happy ending and Roth seems to just like to kill everyone. It was hard in the first novel with Will and Al, but then so many were being shot and knifed and controlled to jump of buildings in this one it was just overkill, but I have no doubt that it won’t lead into the third installment somehow.

No matter what you have heard about this series I highly recommend you pick up a copy and read it for yourself. Tomorrow I am going to get started on Allegiant and I couldn’t be more excited. My head is still trying to figure out what just happened in Insurgent, so if you are in for a good story that leaves you guessing, but wanting more then definitely check this out!!

As much as I loved book 1, book 2 is all about the conflict, the war.
The main 2 characters spend the whole time fighting which I hated
and all the other smaller characters (family and friends) get killed. It sucks.
I feel like Moffat wrote this book!

but if action packed war and conflict is your thing you will probably give this book a much higher rating than I did. 

I had almost worked out the ending though, pretty good cliff hanger.
I am excited to read book 3, I think it will be a lot better.

Oh man, I don’t even know where to start with this review. I just finished reading book two of this trilogy (Insurgent) and I am just so wowed. I absolutely loved both of these books. They were just amazing. If you liked The Hunger Games and/or The Maze Runner Trilogy then you will also love these books by Veronica Roth. I love that we have moved from vampires and werewolves into this post-apocalyptic suspenseful novels.

First off, I have to say, I adored the characters in this book my favorites were of course Beatrice and Uriah, Tobias and Will. Veronica Roth really spent a lot of time developing her characters and each and every one of them was unique and purposeful. I felt like there was a reason behind every character in these novels, and I felt strong emotions toward each one. At times, I felt like the characters were real and I hurt for them at many times while reading. Uriah was definitely my all time favorite though. He was like Finnick for me. If you haven’t read The Hunger Games, you might not get that reference, but let’s just say he’s amazing.

As far as plot goes, I didn’t have any issues with plot holes or missing information during either book. I was pulled in immediately during both and I loved them completely. I do have to say that I guessed the ending of book two, but as a long time reader and writer, I have learned to read into foreshadowing and have always been good at guessing major story points. I’ve read some responses from other people and to many the ending of book two is a major surprise. Though it didn’t shock me, it was still pretty awesome. I can’t wait for book three to see where Veronica Roth takes us next.

All in all, these books are AMAZING. If you haven’t had the chance to read them yet, do so. They are a lot different then most things I’ve read lately, though they do follow some themes in the current YA genre. These are definitely going to be added to my list of favorites and I am so stoked for book three.

Thankfully the sequel picks up right where the first book ended so you get to miss out on the slow build up that Divergent labored from. Overall, it was fairly fast paced and kept me interested. But it seems obvious that this series was commissioned to meet the demand left by The Hunger Games. While on the surface it is an enjoyable and exciting, it lacks the strong symbolism and deeper meaning that the Hunger Games has. But it is still an entertaining read.

Tris has survived a brutal attack on her former home and family. But she has paid a terrible price. Wracked by grief and guilt, she becomes ever more reckless as she struggles to accept her new future.

This was such a different vibe to the first book. 

Again I love the characters and the character arcs were beautifully written. However Tris spent most of the time trying and failing to achieve the same small goals so that was frustrating. 

I always look forward to the cute romantic moments and was disappointed because there wasn’t much focus on that for this book but I guess that was understandable given the circumstances.

There were some mad plot twists though, so very page turning in places because woah was NOT expecting that.

Straight onto Allegiant because that last chapter was crazy.
