Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)
Reviews

This was fun and cute. I think Mindy Kaling and I are very similar people only gender-swapped.

I just pounded this one out in a couple hours and it was pretty good. Not as good as Bossypants and couldn't even put a finger on Jenny Lawson's book, but I still let out a few chuckles and I still think Mindy Kaling is an awesome lady.

Funny, fluffy, light, hilarious, and wryly insightful. I love Mindy's writing voice. Can't wait to get my hands on her next one!

My biggest problem with this book is that Mindy Kaling is not my girlfriend. Seriously though, it's a fun, funny book, and I enjoyed my time with it.

Listened to it on audiobook. Some part of it were funny and I liked hearing about her progress as a writer and comedian. Some parts dragged on too much.

★★★★ // first memoir read, and thank god it was incredibly witty and funny.

Ok 2 stars is maybe a bit harsh because I did laugh out loud several times reading this. Even so, overall it’s not really my style of humor... she does use the word titillating twice throughout the book, and I highly appreciate that.

I loved this book. It was funny and light and refreshing. Side effects of reading this book: started following Mindy Kaling on Twitter; taking her advice that tweets should take less than 45 seconds to compose, or you are doing it wrong; relaxing about losing 10 pounds (sort of); considering joining a community theater stage crew (turns out community theater in SF is actually for professionals only; bummed); checking out her defunct blog, and following the shopping cues even though they are 2+ years old; becoming more open to the idea that shopping might not be torture; considering buying more clothes that are not t-shirts, per her thoughts on dressing during one's early thirties. In short, this book became my best friend for the four days that I spent reading it. Love!

Hilarious. It feels like Mindy Kaling is sitting across from you having a marathon talk session over some ridiculously overpriced coffee in L.A.

I'm supposed to be reading only really good books this year. But I listen at 1.5x so this was only a couple hours and I was curious and I don't regret it.

this is the first audiobook i successfully finished so YAY! (i've failed/attempted to listen to four different audiobooks and only got so far.) i loved listening to mindy kaling's snarky essays, but since audiobooks aren't usually my thing, i hardly remember anything at all. i just know she's hilarious, and i should probably watch the office.

This book is quite the hilarious thought process of Mindy Kaling. I found myself laughing out loud so much. Mindy does not disappoint.

I should warn you that I love Mindy Kaling. I've never seen the American Office so I have no idea if it's good (I've watched 5 minutes of several episodes and it never grabbed me), but I LOVE The Mindy Project. And because the show isn't on every single day (though I *may* have seen each episode more than once), it's nice to have this light read on-hand. It's fluffy, there's some skimmable material, but there's also some chuckle-worthy chapters. I had no idea that she got her start in tv by writing and acting in a Fringe play about Matt Damon & Ben Affleck - how awesome is that? It's probably only a 3-star read, but I'm bumping it up to 4 since it's such a likeable read (plus the cover is so cute & the back cover photo is hilarious).

Super cute and quick. Always enjoyable.

I don't read a lot of comedy books, so I'm not entirely sure what to compare this to. I will say that it made me laugh out loud, and I'll also say that it made her seem like the totally relatable girl that is just so like me in my group of friends, you have no idea. (It also made me want to use italics and consider buying more pink clothing. I think it might have brainwashed me somewhat. Excuse me, I think I need to read some horror now.) If you like Mindy as a writer or actress, then you'll like this. You know if you want to read it already.

If you like Mindy's voice, you have to listen to the audio book. I own the printed book with all the pictures, but was able to borrow the audio for free and it made the book so enjoyable. When I write a book some day it is going to be just like this. Not exactly biographically organized, but just a series of hilarious musings about life. So many good short essays.

I really enjoyed this book by Mindy. There was laughter and some good insight in how she got her career in acting and writing business. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Mindy Kaling. The part that she talks about "Why Do Men Put on Their Shoes So Slowly?" made me laugh because I totally understand the struggle of this.

I read this book for a book club in under a month, and I was a little skeptical about this book because I was not sure how I would feel about it. I did not know much about Mindy Kaling before reading this book, but I really did love this book. I loved everything about this book to the stories that she told, and her writing style throughout the book. This was a very fun read, and I am so happy that this was the first book that was picked for the book club.

I'm not a huge fan of the humour genre. I feel like comedic writing shouldn't be an excuse for bad writing and yet, that is almost always the case. Even comedians who prove themselves to be brilliant writers in television and film projects fall into this trap. That being said, Mindy Kaling's book is very funny. Mindy Kaling is very funny. There were some cringe-inducing moments, but generally not a terrible book. Not spectacular, but a quick and easy read. I would've preferred if she had added a little more depth to her stories (i.e. chosen to make her book more memoir than comedic skit). Either way, worth reading if you're looking to laugh.

Genuinely endearing and funny once you get through the somewhat uneven and weirdly boring first quarter. Also: you gotta get used to her voice. If you don’t like her voice, hey guess what, the audiobook ain’t for you! That was almost me... but I actually played with the speed of the audiobook to get it just right for me (2.05x)

This book is incredibly witty and made me wish that Mindy Kaling was my best friend. The title alone makes it worth buying as far as I'm concerned.

Super perfect read for when you're waiting for your husband's delayed flight and drinking margaritas in the airport chilis. As funny as you'd imagine but better and with more heart? This should be everyone's beach read, you can read the whole thing in a day, it's like talking to your best friend if your best friend is hilarious and not lame that is. The chapter on men vs boys is on point.

One of the funniest & quickest memoirs I’ve ever read, was laughing in public.
