the messy lesbians were my favorite part ♥︎ i wish the setting was explored a bit more because the vibes were there. i didn't like the writing much but it was fine if i think about it as being in a 17-year-old girl's head. i also figured out <spoiler>that benton was the hunter</spoiler> so soon i thought nope it can't be. but it was!!!

These Witches Don't Burn by Isabel Sterling opens with Hannah still smarting over her breakup with her girlfriend (and once upon a time best friend) Veronica. They broke up after a disastrous trip to New York when a Blood Witch went after them. Now it appears that a Blood Witch has come to Salem to do them harm.

Absolutely adored this sweet book. The love between all the characters, the magic system building, the emotional whiplash, it's all so incredible.

it's a little predictable but i don't really mind predictable as long as it's well done which it is!

This was fun!! Honestly it exceeded my expectations, I was kind of just expecting a sapphic witchy romance but this has a mystery, drama and tension!! It was just really fun! I loved the characters, the relationships, the dynamics and especially the world building. All the attention to detail with the magic system was really cool and having 3 types of witches was interesting! I loved this, the fact it was sapphic was just a massive added bonus ontop of an already great plot!

i had so much fun with this book,, apparently my brain does do some critical thinking and i can actually guess important plot points yet i was still surprised when they happened. thoroughly enjoyed myself with this one

this was actually a lot darker than i expected but i still enjoyed it quite a bit!

there was really great representation throughout the book which is always a plus and that cliffhanger has me itching for the sequel.

i kind of wish the characters were fleshed out a little more, i feel like the mystery of it all kind of overshadowed everything else but i did binge most of it in a single morning because i just couldn’t put it down.

Overall I enjoyed the book. There was a couple of times at the beginning that annoyed/frustrated me. I enjoyed that they had more than just one type of witch in the story and that it was placed in Salem. To me this felt like the book was on the older side of YA.

More like 2.5 rounded up. I’m interested in the story, but the characters and writing were both stilted. I called one twist and the other twist seemed to come out of left field. It would be one thing if I didn’t pick up on the clues left throughout, but that really wasn’t the case. One whole event that occurred prior to the events of the plot seemed to have been a catalyst only for a breakup and had no real effect on any part of the plot. Will I pick up the next one? Probably. Will I need to read a quick summary of the plot of this one before I do that? Definitely.

i don't rlly remember what this book was about or why I dnf'ed it?? I think it was because I was in a bad mood and I wanted to read something wholesome and then it was scary or somebody died or something lmfaoo. i do remember we I then just forgot it existed and I had to bring it back to the library haha. maybe I'll try to read it again someday!!

This book was an emotional rollercoaster! 

From Hannah's love life, to her coven/magic, and within her friends, it's a journey that was hard to tear myself away from. The struggles were so real. The world needs more of these lesbian coming of age tales!

I loved the world building, it was a unique way to structure the politics of the magical world, and the various types of witches. I'd love to learn more about the lore behind the witches, and can't wait to read the squeal. 

The YA aspects were spot on, well written struggles from a teenaged perspective, never felt over done, or like an adult writing a dramatic teen character. While it has the typical reacting from an emotional state, instead of a logical one, it was never unbelievable, or eye roll worthy.

You'll love this book if you love books about witches, coming of age, and mystery.

Gay witches, do I need to say more? 
Cute romance with magic. Hannah is a witch that broke up with her ex girlfriend that’s also a witch after an incident that happened with a blood witch. Someone in Salem is trying to hurt them. Is it the blood witch or is there something else? 

This was a boon I enjoyed. Quick read, funny, cute romance. I kept wondering what happened and who’s doing all these bad things.
