It All Comes Back to You

Two exes must revisit their past after their siblings start dating in this rom-com perfect for fans of Sandhya Menon and Morgan Matson. After Kiran Noorani’s mom died, Kiran vowed to keep her dad and sister, Amira, close—to keep her family together. But when Amira announces that she’s dating someone, Kiran’s world is turned upside down. Deen Malik is thrilled that his brother, Faisal, has found a great girlfriend. Maybe a new love will give Faisal a new lease on life, and Deen can stop feeling guilty for the reason that Faisal needs a do-over in the first place. When the families meet, Deen and Kiran find themselves face to face. Again. Three years ago—before Amira and Faisal met—Kiran and Deen dated in secret. Until Deen ghosted Kiran. And now, after discovering hints of Faisal’s shady past, Kiran will stop at nothing to find answers. Deen just wants his brother to be happy—and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep Kiran from reaching the truth. Though the chemistry between Kiran and Deen is undeniable, can either of them take down their walls?

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" - a direct quote from the book itself. I don't know what to say... I did not LOVE the book but i didn't hate it either. The drama was good at the start but then it became redundant in the middle, and i feel like the plot was a bit dragging. And the ENDING !!!! ahem. Let's not speak of that cause i could rant for DAYS ON END! ✨ Pacing 3 out of 5 snails 🐌 ✨ Characters 2 for Kiran. I didn't like her that much. She started getting on my nerves 1/4 into the novel. 4.5 for Deen. He was a well-fleshed out character. I truly sympathised and could grasp where he was coming from. 4 for Amira, she was a sweetheart that didn't deserve any of the bullshit she was put through. 5 golden stars for my baby rhino Faisal. I really want a Faisal in my life lol. Alas, i'm single as a pringle. ✨ Plot 3.5 stars highly creative, i like the fact that the mystery behind Faisal and Deen was dragged on so long. Also it was well done unlike other books i've read before. HOWEVER... The execution... wasn't... how to say this... right???? idk it felt off. The author could've amped up on the emotional side of Kiran, notably when the twist happens and when THE THING is revealed to her. I wanted a lasting reaction not just two paragraphs of confusion you know? ✨ ANYWAYS ✨ Overall a nice book to pick up in between heavy fantasy books. Accurate desi representation. Toxic families. Taboo subjects in desi culture and within our community. (i think there's potential for a second book since the ending gave me the impression there's room for a spin-off for two of the characters by the way one of them sauntered back into the other's life... IFYKYK.)

i liked it and enjoyed the drama but it would've been better if amira and faisal were the main characters. i would've given it a 5 star but some of the stuff in this book bothered me and what even was that ending.

Sweet story but I definitely wanted it to be more of a YA romance that left me feeling warm and fuzzy. It was more of a coming of age story but felt marketed ya romance to me

This was an OK book, as in it wasn’t the best but it wasn’t that bad either. This book had two points of view which I loved and I also gave background information about what happened in the past between the two main characters and their life. At first I thought of the main female character as bit annoying, but the main male character was great and I have no complaints about him. But now that I go back I do think that it doesn’t deserve that bad of a rating but I wish I it was better by showing more chemistry between the two main characters.

Okay guys, I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I definitely liked it, but I would not say that it was a romance? Like sure, there were some romance-y moments in the book, but it was all just romantic tension and no actual romance? Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just isn't what I was expecting when I began this book. However, the plot of this book really made up for this. This book also does a great job with showing how trauma and grief can affect you in the future, and how you have to face your issues head on to grow as a person and overcome them. A big positive for me was how successful each character was in their development. Throughout, you really get to see the flaws in both main characters, and they eventually see them too and realize that they need to change and overcome these flaws. It made their growth feel really believable and genuine, which is great because man, were these guys flawed! But for good reason! Kiran especially had me wanting to yell at the book at some points, but I also completely understood why she was doing what she was doing. Like, from my outside perspective, I knew she was messing up, but if I was her I would also be very angry and make the wrong decisions. One thing that I would've liked to see is (view spoiler)[ Deen addressing how badly he screwed Kiran over to her face?? Like in his chapters we see him realize his mistakes and feel guilt, but he never exactly goes to her and shows that he knows he really messed up, ya know? If I was in her place, I would've held my grudge A LOT longer. (view spoiler)[ But all in all, this is a cute and fast read! It's got lots of emotional moments, and the sibling relationships are super cute and heartwarming. While the plot is a bit anxiety inducing (in the "please don't do that, the consequences are going to be awful" way), it is really interesting and makes this book deserve no less than 4 stars even though there aren't a ton of romantic moments. If you like the tension of enemies to lovers, and want to read about grief and guilt and the struggles that come with those things, then I think you'll enjoy this book. Just don't go in expecting a cutesy romance, or you will experience pain. (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

All quotes in this review are taken from the Advanced Reader Copy and may change in final publication. Oh man, there was a time where I was in Kiran’s situation. Even though my dad didn’t pass away, I didn’t really want her to date anyone because I didn’t want her to be unhappy again, or hurt again, but alas life happened. While in this situation, it wasn’t Kiran’s dad that she had to worry about, it was her sister, I could still understand that feeling of being put off guard about the plan that she had in her mind being derailed. I thought it was pretty interesting that both sets of siblings end up dating one another at one point, and thought it was kind of funny that Deen and Kiran were the ones that dated first. I don’t know if Amira and Faisal knew about their siblings dating, but I don’t know how I would feel about that. Luckily I wouldn’t be in that situation, but I could just imagine dealing with that, especially since the whole reason for the ghosting hasn’t been revealed to Kiran. I totally understand wanting to find out what the reason was, especially if it will bring some sort of closure. I appreciated that both Deen and Kiran have such strong feelings of protectiveness for their siblings, and I think that is one of the better aspects of this novel. I think the character development that they had to go through in this book, learning more about themselves and how they should strengthen their relationships with their family. I would recommend this novel for sure, but just don’t go into the novel thinking that it’s a rom-com. That may be a miscommunication with how it was marketed, so if you don’t expect that, then you’ll enjoy it!

This book was too beautiful. Honestly, it seemed interesting to me the ways of showing the different relationships between siblings and how we are capable of many things for them (I say it as an older sister) These types of books fascinate me and OH MY GOD without a doubt as soon as I saw the cover I knew that I would love it. (ITS SO BEAUTIFUL, OMG)
