It Happened at the Fair

Gist used to be one of my favorite Christian authors, one that could write well and avoid the pitfalls of typical Christian nauseating clichés. While this book avoided most of those (there were a few awkward phrases towards the beginning of the book), something was just off for me. I'm not sure what it was about the story that annoyed me but it set a sour taste in my mouth that lasted throughout the reading. (Maybe it was those awkward phrasings towards the beginning.) Also, like most novels of its kind, I could predict the ending-and most of the plot-from the beginning of the novel. There are too many really good books in this world to spend precious reading time on something I already know the outcome to.
I am sorry to say that I do not recommend this book.
