A great autobiography that covers both working in the field... and all the internal and external conflicts that come with choosing a high-risk, demanding career and war journalism. As a woman in her early 30s that holds similar questions about her own career (albeit not as high-risk or demanding), living a life/selecting a vocation that prioritizes moral courage and clarity, and understanding what that means for myself and the people in my life, I appreciated her transparency and lucid, wide-ranging reflections on covering the War on Terror, recovering from trauma of being in the field, choosing a place to live, dating, motherhood – and everything in between.
