The Bone Witch

I'm such a sucker for witchy reads, this one was a pleasant surprise! The story follows a young lady named Lennox, who is selected as the Bone Witch in the Osseous Family tradition. This has been going on for generations. Apprehensive about learning the bone witch skills and desperate to find her brother, Lennox pairs up with the a sexy male witch named Rogan... we know where this is headed *insert wiggling eyebrows here*. 

Loved the banter between Rogan and Lennox, the chemistry was definitely there. Lennox was a main character that I could totally read about and not get tired. Her confidence built a great heroine trait in her. The determination to get through the obstacles and the straightforwardness in her is what I love about a great female lead! Rogan was mysterious and funny! 

I enjoyed the flow of the story, the characters, and the world building, I didnt feel lost or in need to retrace what I read. I am such a huge fan of Enemies to lovers, if this is something you are into then here is a great read for you!

Holy Moly, what did I just read? This was a rollercoaster of emotions for sure! I loved how Lennox's character seemed so grown up in this book. She continued with her badassery. I really enjoyed the outcome of this story even though the book took my heart and squeezed it cause it was so emotional. Lennox continues to be her witty self, I love her inner monologue, it's hysterical! And can we talk about all the male characters that come into this book? *insert eyebrow wiggle here lol* 

Ivy Asher outdid herself with Lennox character for sure! The fact that Lennox isnt afraid to be herself, no matter what situation she is in, whether its a serious situation or an embarrassing one! The selflessness of Lennox definitely touched my heart. The side character, I loved them! Also, if you're looking for some spicy time, this book will give you some action as well. 

As always, Ivy leaves us with a cliffhanger! I cant wait to dive into book 3, definitely recommending this series to those that love witchy spicy vibes with a bad ass heroine.

I'm conflicted about this book. It took me a long time to read, I wasn't very invested in the characters until the end. I would have preferred more romance over the lust they feel for each other. Didn't see the plot twist coming. Hopefully the second one will be better.

Deep, controlled breathing is the only thing getting me through the writing of this review. No joke, I’m SO unwell right now but in the best way. The Blood Witch TOTALLY delivers as a sequel to the awesome first installment and frankly I do not even know where to begin.

So we all know and obsess over the enemies-to-lovers/hate-to-love trope of course, but I have rarely ever seen it handled in such a believable and relatable fashion as in the Osseous Chronicles.

I appreciate the fact that Lennox is struggling with even beginning to forgive Rogan for tethering her to him and her inner monologue on this betrayal was super poignant to me.

Usually I find myself thinking “oh girl come on, you can look past this, he’s perfect for you!” but in reality, it ain’t that simple, and I loved to watch these two characters develop and grow so dynamically. Their love is steamy and tumultuous and so addictive and oh my GOD I need The Bound Witch NOW.

Once more, I found myself so friggen delighted by the quippy writing style of this book--endless witty banter and cleverly hilarious wordplay made this book such a fun ride. The pages fly by but at the same time are filled with so much epic witchy adventure. 

Y’all, I cannot even put together the right words to properly explain that explosive ending and cliffhanger...this story got gloriously dark without warning or mercy and I loved every second of it, even more so than The Bone Witch. DYING out here until The Bound Witch release on 8/27!!

I’ve been needing a fast-paced, rollercoaster of a fantasy adventure series in my life lately and I’ve definitely found it in the Osseous Chronicles! The writing style of this book is a perfect blend of hysterical comedy and dark mysterious drama, a combination I absolutely love and crave since discovering amazing indie authors like Raven Kennedy and now Ivy Asher!

I was immediately obsessed with the central characters (Tad is my ultimate fave!) and completely sucked into the world Ivy has so masterfully built. By far the best element for me is the brilliant and sassy heroine at its heart—Lennox. GOD this girl made me laugh my entire ass off AND feel her pain in the marrow of my bones. She owns my heart, but do not even get me started on ROGAN KENDRICK y’all—UGH. The tension between these two is so fiery and intense, I’m so ready for more. I literally couldn’t wait longer than a few seconds before downloading Blood Witch to continue their journey!

Altogether, this book was so much freaking FUN and I cannot recommend it enough! The Bone Witch is a witchy urban fantasy and slowburn paranormal romance all wrapped into one, perfect for fans of Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin and the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.

Another wonderful Ivy Asher book!

The Bone Witch chronicles is simply a fun, sexy, and action packed series. The heroine is witty, strong willed, and sometimes clueless. But that’s what makes you love Lennox. Her perfect half is Rogan. Ivy knows how to write a pairing. 

Rogan isn’t your typical brooding bad ass. (Though he is both of those things.) I love how much he cares for Lennox, to the point where I think he loves her more than she loves him. It’s not a bad thing, it’s just how it feels! He understands that he isn’t perfect and reflects on his wrong doings in order to correct them. 

The demon storyline was super interesting. There were a few things that I felt slightly confused or maybe felt a little rush, but it didn’t take away from the readablity or the enjoyment of the book. I just hope Ivy continued this series because there are sooooo many questions I have still.

Who is running the high council? What does being a demon countess really mean? Is Elon going to find happiness? (Also I’m picking up bi vibes from him and I love that. But I can totally be wrong.) what is happening with their cousin and the ghost? Is Tad and Prek going to be a thing? What about the auntie?

So obviously I need more so I can have my curiosity sated!

This is my first Ivy Asher book and I’m so impressed! I’m obsessed with witches and it has been so long since I’ve been given a fun witchy read, but this one definitely delivered!

Lennox didn’t plan on taking over as the head osteomencer, but when the purple bag of bones shows up, she knows that her life is about to change. What she didn’t expect was being tethered to a random stranger who needs her help in locating her brother. Without much of a choice, Lennox must help him if she wants any chance of breaking the forced tether. 

I absolutely adored Lennox. She was written so well and I felt like I could really connect with her character. Although she did not expect to take over her family’s legacy, she threw herself in and learned all she could. She persevered when many others would simply give up. She is also not afraid to speak her mind, even at the expanse of her own embarrassment. 

I loved the tension between Lennox and Rogan. Their banter gave me life and the slow burn romance between them is killing me! But it works. 

That ending though! Can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

Okay who gave Ms. Asher the right to make my cry like that at 11 O’clock at night?? Seriously I don’t ever remember tearing up like I did for this book for any other book in a long time. The ending was absolutely immaculate. But I also hate her a little bit because now I have to wait for book 3 in order to figure out what is gonna happen next because shit hit the fan. 

Although this book did not have as much continual action as book one had, it was perfectly spaced and timed. I feel like book one really set up this world and the characters, where is book to continue to develop those characters and thick and the plot even more. As any good book 2 should do.

Lennox is probably one of my favorite female leads. She’s badass, funny, witty, and resourceful. She doesn’t typically act first and think of repercussions later. She lays it all out on the table and doesn’t hold back. She’s selfish, willing to sacrifice herself for others. 

I have so many questions now that I finished the book. Like I need three right now so hopefully they’ll all be answered. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is in search of a good witchy read!

At this point, the Osseous Chronicles has become one of my comfort reads. 

THE BLOOD WITCH takes off right after the events of The Bone Witch, and I found it in the elements that I’d already grown to love in its predecessor. Lennox isn’t just one of the funniest protagonists I’ve ever read about, but her reactions to the events happening around her are so easy to relate to, and it makes the entire story far more realistic, despite the fantastical elements within it. I loved that we got to meet a new set of interesting characters, even though I selfishly missed the presence of some secondary characters that only made cameo appearances in this one. 

The author more than makes up for it with the world-building, which expanded a little bit more to better incorporate the intricacies of the witch community, and with the engaging plot. The mystery from The Bone Witch thickens in this installment, with moments that had me at the edge of the proverbial seat and a pacing which was, as always, thrilling and fast paced throughout and high stakes at the ending. Did I shed a few tears? I definitely did.

I missed a bit of the romantic element compared to the first book, but after the events of The Bone Witch, it couldn’t be helped. I do have a feeling that the next installment will more than make up for it, because things are happening that have my full and undivided attention!

It’s needless to say that after the ending of The Blood Witch, I was desperate for THE BOUND WITCH, because I needed to know where the story was going, and how this series was going to end. I wasn’t disappointed! This conclusion perfectly aligns with the story I came to fall in love with. I would have liked to see some things leading to the ending in a bit more detail and a less rushed conclusion, but it didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the book one bit.

More than plot, The Bound Witch focuses on the characters and wrapping up the dynamics introduced throughout the series. The Academy Award goes to Rogan and Lennox. I swear their relationship is one of the hottest, steamiest, slow-burn tortures I’ve ever subjected myself to, but so worth the wait! The heat levels rising were a welcome addition to this sexy story, but I appreciated their down moments even more. Rogan especially underwent an amazing character development arc throughout the series. Is the man perfect? No. He looks perfect, but he’s not, and that just adds to his realism and allure. He makes mistakes but owns up to them, apologizes and tries to do better. If this isn’t devotion to your woman, I don’t know what is. Real world men, please take notes! As for Lennox, well, I adore her. That’s the tweet. Strong, sassy and hilarious until the end. She’ll forever stay one of my favorite protagonists.

I was also very happy with the space given to the secondary characters. We got more Tad, more Elon, more Prek, who I really enjoyed in the previous book. You know what we didn’t get much of? An intrusive werewolf who can’t keep his mouth to himself. That made me very happy, and I’m sure Rogan agrees with me. I do feel like there are some loose threads in the storylines of the secondary characters, which really gives me hope that we’ll be getting a spin-off for this series someday! I just need more Tad and Elon in my life. Please, Ivy, listen to my begging.

Long story short, the entire The Osseous Chronicles series was a blast! I shipped, I cried, I laughed so much my ribs hurt. This series will stay with me forever. If you love witches, romance and humor, pick up this series and thank me later!

Even though I was expecting to love THE BONE WITCH thanks to the high praise I’ve heard from friends in the bookstagram community, this book still managed to be a surprise. I love reading about witches, even if I don’t do it nearly as much as I would like, and Ivy Asher was able to give me so many of the elements I love in one addicting package!

The Bone Witch drew me in from the very first pages thanks to its protagonist, Lennox, whose humor was off the charts! I love a sassy protagonist, and Lennox was absolutely hilarious. I saw a lot of my own personality in hers, from the need to make irony on things that would otherwise be too much to handle, to her ability to say the awkward thing at exactly the wrong time, to the big heart she tries to hide behind all her swagger. 

I appreciated that she wasn’t overtly learned on the world of witchcraft, because it gave me the opportunity to learn alongside her. I’m not always a fan of a contemporary setting, in fact, whenever there’s magic involved, I tend to prefer imagined worlds inspired by the past, but I actually appreciated the modern setting in The Bone Witch. There are several different kinds of witches in this book, as well as other creatures (werewolves make an interesting appearance in this one, for example) and the way the world was built reminded me a lot of intricate secret societies within the human society, which was super interesting.

Another element I thoroughly enjoyed was the romance. Those who follow me for a while know that, though I don’t necessarily need romance to enjoy a book, I’m a happy bean whenever my ship bone tingles, and let me tell you…it’s tingling! I absolutely adored Rogan’s character. He’s by no means perfect, in fact he does some things very early on in the book that made me narrow my eyes at him despite his pretty face wanted to distract my ovaries and his quest made a lute of my heartstrings. But Lennox is a big girl who can fend for herself, and Rogan proved himself worthy of my raging hormones along the way. His grumpy, protective, sometimes arrogant personality was such a great complement to Lennox’s spunk and their banter was entertaining and full of angst from start to finish!

It’s true that there were a few scenes in the middle that I felt were a bit redundant, but they were still entertaining to read and didn’t impact the fast, enjoyable pacing of the story overall. The ending quite literally had me staring wide-eyed into space with my mouth hanging open. I do have a theory…but the cliffhanger is brutal, friends. You’re going to want to have a copy of the second book, The Blood Witch at hand when you start reading this one.

In this moment I feel like a gif I love of a guy playing the guitar and screaming. It’s from a show, but I don’t know which one it is. What I do know is that I loved this book, and now I want everyone to read it! 

The Bone Witch is the first The Osseus Chronicles. The main character is Lennox, who unexpectedly inherits her grandmother’s magic and becomes her clan’s new Osteomancer. Lennox always thought the magic was going to go to her cousin and that she would always be living the life of a human, so despite her grandmother’s efforts she never bothered to learn more than what was strictly necessary. But she has to learn fast now, because taking up her grandmother’s shop will be the least of her worries when dark and handsome Blood Witch Rogan walks into her life and…asks for her help in finding his brother, who is only the latest Bone Witch to mysteriously disappear. Lennox could be next.

For starters, I LOVED Lennox (Leni for friends), who’s sass quickly turned her into one of my favorite female protagonists. I lost count of how many times she made me giggle. I also liked how she faces the challenges before her head on without succumbing to fear, even though she wisely does feel some. And, what can I say? I loved Rogan, too. He does some questionable choices, and Leni kicks his smexy behind for it, but the dark and brooding characters always make me weak in the knees. Their interactions were amazing! Fun, intense and at some point very angsty. I am very much looking forward to them doing something about it. (I hope. *sends a silent prayer to the bookish gods.) 

As far as the storyline goes, I’m invested in the mystery slowly unfolding. My Murder-She-Wrote-loving self is trying to investigate alongside the characters, although I admit I’m still nowhere close to formulating any coherent theory. Jessica Fletcher would be disappointed. But it’s not my fault Rogan distracts me!

This book is perfect for fans of paranormal books, witches, romance and intriguing plots. Am I saying everyone should read it? If you like adult romance like me, then yes. You definitely should!

My, just when I thought I couldn't love this series any more than I already did, Ivy Asher threw this book at me and proved me wrong. The Blood Witch is the perfect sequel to 
  The Bone Witch
. It turned up the angst and longing, it gave us an intriguing peek at the important players in witch politics, it moved forward with the investigation and it completely smothered my soul with those final chapters!

My love for Lennox and Rogan is renewed tenfold. Lennox is such a badass and compassionate woman. I admire her bravery. She stands up for what's right and would go down swinging before admitting defeat. Definitely confirmed her spot as one of my new favorite female characters. And Rogan...I love him, okay? I love Rogan Kendrick! He deserves love. There's also another Kendrick that deserves some loving but I will shut up about that because everyone needs to read these books without a hint of spoilers to ruin it for them.

I am so excited for the next book. And when I say excited I mean I wish I had it in my hands immediately so I could binge! I need answers and I need things to happen.

Wow. I really have no words to express how much I enjoyed this book. Such a page turner from the first page to the last. The plot was wrapped up so brilliantly with a surprising twist that connected all of the dots. The characters we’ve met along the way came together and formed a group whose interactions I enjoyed so much! My love for Tad and Elon were a confirmation, but I was surprised with how much I liked Prek here. I knew that there was more to him that met the eye, and I was happy to see that was indeed the case. 

You know who else was a confirmation? Lennox and Rogan. Goodness, I loved their scenes together! Their frenemy banter was on point in the previous two books, but seeing them as a couple? So worth the wait! I want a Rogan Kendrik immediately. 

I’m pretty sure Ivy Asher peppered a little clue about a possible spin off series in this book? I was pleasantly surprised, and I do hope I’m right! I would love to stay more in this world and solve this other mystery she’s teasing us with. Besides, the characters that are the likely protagonists look very promising. Oh, please let this be true!

First of all, hello gorgeous. I mean, that cover? 😍 And as for the story… I am ENTHRALLED. And I need more. The first book in the Osseous Chronicles, The Bone Witch introduces us to a new world of magic and fantasy. It's filled with fun banter and sexual tension and intrigue.

At times I was frustrated with some of the characters, but in the kind of way that made me want to keep reading to hope for more. Thankfully, this is a decently quick read and I enjoyed that about it because I didn't want to pause on the storylines! The main characters all have a great dynamic and some interactions that actually made me laugh out loud. You can definitely count on it being entertaining, and the ending will have you itching for more.
